All Hands On Deck by We Are Battle Robots (Self-released EP)
Based out of the Pittsburgh, PA area, We Are Battle Robots is an amalgamation of two different bands coming together to create some pretty compelling music. Fans of Circa Survive and A Skylit Drive should start paying attention at this point, as We Are Battle Robots is destined to become your new favorite band. At their very best, the tunes featuring on All Hands On Deck soar into the stratosphere. With a debut recording this exciting, there is little doubt that the Battle Robots will be launching themselves far above and beyond their hometown in no time.
After a brief and haunting Intro, the EP thrusts into high gear with the kaleidoscopic strains of There Isn’t Any Glory. Then it’s breakdown time with An Eye For An Eye Makes The World Go Blind – complete with both guitar and programming solos that are absolutely stunning. The pedal is put to the metal once more, and comes crashing down with the fiery vengeance in The Place We Once Called Home. A Wolf In The House Of Hens sounds just as wildly ominous as it’s title while All Too Well delivers a grand finale of sound that will leave the listener wanting to hear a whole lot more.
As a collective, We Are Battle Robots works wonders and can really transport the goods. Jon Budner and Cody Cavanaugh deliver a ferocious wall of sound on dueling guitars. The rhythm section is definitely top notch, featuring the fine work of Robert Putaro on bass and TJ Emph on drums.
And bringing it all home is charismatic vocalist Sean Coyne. Excelling with both the clean and growled vocals, Coyne also does all of the programming, coming up with some really driving atmospherics. Recorded with precision and skill by Brette Ciamarra of Studio 344 – who also happens to be a member of Belie My Burial and Havannah Drive.
An exceptional debut from a band we’ll be hearing a lot more of in the future. Snag a copy of All Hands On Deck by We Are Battle Robots and invest in the sonic sounds of your own personal science program.
