Burning Twilight from Washington State place a lot of passion and conviction into their metallic hardcore music, and their efforts are finally beginning to pay off. Now signed to the just unveiled BlkHeart label (along with Destruction Of A Rose, No Bragging Rights), the band is now in the midst of recording their debut album entitled The Reckoning. Fans of bands such Underoath and As I Lay Dying should really enjoy what the spiritual hardcore anthems Burning Twilight has to offer. Success is their only option, and they will find plenty of opportunities for that – judging by what’s heard on their Myspace page. Here is an interview we recently conducted with one of the members…
Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Burning Twilight, and how long the band has been together.
My name is Marc Hamilton and I play the bass for Burning Twilight. We have been together since the summer of ’08!
Where is the band based out of and what is the music scene like there?
We are based out of Centralia. The music scene is struggling here in Centralia but the fan base, small as it may be, is dedicated and loyal to the bands.
How did you wind up becoming a part of the BlkHeart Group?
Our manager Christian contacted us one day and said that he had shown Jason our CD. He said Jason really liked our music and style and was interested in speaking with us.
Describe your music to an elderly church lady.
Lots of screaming, heavy guitars, something you will most likely hate.
Would you describe Burning Twilight as being a Christian or ministry band? Why or why not?
Definitely a Christian band. We are all Christians and spread our faith and message without “Bible thumping”, but rather our actions and words.
Is there any story or concept behind the CD title The Reckoning?
The “Do or Die”, this is the point in our lives where we go big or go home. We are going to give this all we’ve got and pray for the best.
Where do you get the ideas for some of the lyrics? Please cite two songs from The Reckoning and what the lyrics are about.
We get our lyric ideas from a wide variety of areas; personal experiences and stories alike.
The Resolve of Cowards: Standing up for what you believe in and not backing down.
Peacemaker: This song is about the movie tombstone because its awesome.
Describe a live Burning Twilight show to someone who has never seen you before.
We try to put as much passion into our music as possible while on stage. We strive to make the show as enjoyable as possible with both sound and sight.
Have you ever played here in the Los Angeles/OC area or plan to do so in the future?
No we have not played in the Los Angeles/OC area but we plan to asap.
Does The Reckoning have a release date yet?
Have you opened for any bigger bands yet? If so, who were they and what was the experience like?
Yes we have. We have opened for No Bragging Rights, Showbread, Ivoryline, For Today and Plea For Purging. It was a very enjoyable experience and we loved getting to know other bands and we were honored to open for such amazing musicians.
Any strange or unusual Myspace stories you could share?
We couldn’t get the myspace url we wanted because some little girl had it. We offered to buy it from her and she denied us.
Do you have any messages for people reading this who might want to check your band out?
If you like hardcore music, riding on boats, playing World of Warcraft and vigilante justice then you will like Burning Twilight!
