And now, let the preview commence…

Hawthorne Heights

hawthorne2013heights1Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Eron Bucciarelli.  I play drums for Hawthorne Heights.  We’re based out of Dayton, OH.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This will be our third time on Warped Tour.  I’m looking forward to reintroducing ourselves to old fans and perhaps picking up some new fans along the way.  Really excited to hang out with some old friends.  It should be a fun time!

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Drink lots of water, bring lots of sunscreen and hustle.  Warped Tour can be a tremendous promotional boost to your career, but you have to work for it.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
People can expect a different set list from us each day.  We have 5 full-length albums now (including our most recent – due out this summer), so we’re going to play as many fan favorites as possible and a couple new songs as well!

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our latest record is entitled, “ZERO”.  Its a concept album, our first foray into that world.  ZERO begins with the lead character awakening to find himself in the wreckage of a war-torn world and begins searching the desolate landscape to find his place. Everything he’s known was violently ripped away; his lifestyle, his hometown, his family – all gone due to an oppressive regime called the C.A.L.M.  Picking up the pieces becomes more than a physical task as his sub-conscious bombards him with memories of lost relationships, inner failures and horrifying scenes of the downfall of humanity etched into his psyche.  Through the rubble, the choice is clear: fight on, face his demons and forge a new existence.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Ohio Is For Lovers – Its about being away from loved ones for the first time and the heartache that it brings.
Golden Parachutes – Its one off the new album.  Its about how the easy path is not always the best.  When your options are complacency or risk everything and fight, sometimes the risk gives the biggest rewards.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Its something that every band has to do a coupe times a tour.  Its usually not that bad – at very least, its not the hottest part of the day!

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
There are always unusual happenings along the road, that’s what makes touring so interesting – you never know what you might come across or what
situations you might end up in.  There have been too many of these to pick from.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Foo Fighters, because they’re incredible and I have a huge amount of admiration and respect for Dave Grohl.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Please venture over to the Tilly’s stage to see us and a bunch of other great bands, and then don’t forget to stop by our merch tent to say hello.  We’ll be popping in periodically to meet people!  We’ll see you out there!

Ice Nine Kills

iceninekillswarpe1Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Spencer Charnas and I sing in the band Ice Nine Kills. We are based out of Boston MA .

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This will be our 3rd time on the tour. Some of the best and most memorable shows in the band’s history have been Warped dates – so I am very excited to play this year. I also can’t wait to watch bands like Goldfinger and Reel Big Fish play everyday – 2 bands that inspired me to be a full time musician.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Be ready to hustle. Warped Tour is what you make of it – the lazy bands won’t last a week.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Lots of stage dives and intense crowd participation. We like to get right in the kids faces – I know that’s what I would want out of a band.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP?
Our latest EP, The Predator, is the first part of a 2 disc set. Part 2 is entitled The Predator Becomes The Prey and should be out late Summer. The 2 CD’s are directly related to one another both lyrically, musically, and visually.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Buildings Burn, People Die: Inspired by the parting of ways of the 2 founding members of the band – myself and our original guitarist.
The People Under The Stairs: Inspired by the events surrounding the Holocaust. It’s a tribute to the fallen.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
The first couple years we dreaded the day when we might get that slot. Much to our surprise it worked out great every time it befell us! One show we got the 11:30am slot I remember in particular was in Detroit . Our stage was right at the entrance and kids had no other choice but to watch us. We ended up playing in front of thousands of kids that day and we had a great reaction.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Definitely Nirvana. I would not be interested in music had it not been for their album Nevermind.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Look out for Ice Nine Kills – we promise to put on one of the best sets of the entire tour.

Man Overboard

49_1_mob600Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
Justin Collier, guitarist of Man Overboard from New Jersey .

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This is our second year so I am looking forward to walking into the summer and already knowing what to expect. Last summer was kind of stressful… so having been around the block, I think we will have a pretty relaxed and fun summer!

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Plan ahead, prepare for everything and remember your sun screen!!!

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
We have a pretty large catalog but we try and mix it up and play stuff from each record so everyone is happy. We also do a lot of jumping around, crowd participation and dumb stage banter, so expect a lot of that.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our new album will be out May 28th and it is called Heart Attack. We picked that because it sounded cool haha.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Love Your Friends Die Laughing is a track about smoking weed with your friends and having a good time. Where I Left You is a new song that’s about a girl.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
We played first on the first day of Warped last year and it was actually awesome… got it out of the way and could relax the rest of the day!

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
Oh jeez, too many to mention. We once got kicked off a train and detained in Russia while trying to cross into the Ukraine because of an issue with our Visas… that was sick.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Blink 182 – we love them.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Please drink water, please put on sun screen, please don’t put on body paint and please don’t offer “free hugs” to anyone.

Never Shout Never

nshout2013Answered by Christofer Drew

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
I’m very excited to be on the Warped Tour this summer! It’s going to be a blast. This will be our second full Warped. It might sound funny, but I may be most excited to have vegan catering everyday, haha.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
The best advice I have is to live it up…and drink lots of water!

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
It’s going to be very upbeat and positive.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
It is called Sunflower! The name was inspired by my favorite flower 🙂

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Piggybank is one. The lyrics are inspired by my feelings toward money, and finding a girl that doesn’t care about it.
What is Love? is another. I wrote this song for my parents when they went through their divorce a couple years back.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
It is what it is. Honestly it will be cool to play early and watch the other bands.

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
I broke my foot last Warped in 2010. Pretty crappy ha.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
It would be awesome the open for Bob Dylan when he was playing with “the Band”.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Can’t wait to hang out with you. I love you all very mucho.

Reel Big Fish

Untitled-2Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
I’m Aaron Barrett, lead singer and guitar for Reel Big Fish. Apparently I’m from the 90’s.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This will be our 5th Warped Tour (if you don’t count the Australian Warped Tour back in the late 90’s). I’m very excited about the salad bar at catering, it’s probably the best salad bar in the world…oh and playing ska music for all those smiling, sun burnt faces too!

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give aband about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Drink one bottle of water between every alcoholic beverage, that way you’ll stay drunk AND hydrated!

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Confetti cannons, T – Shirt Cannons, Wet T- Shirt Contests, Lap Dance Contests, Plastic Flamingo Beer Bongs…oh wait, that’s spring break….

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our latest album is called “Candy Coated Fury” and it pretty much describes what our band does, we sing hateful, angry, sarcastic, mean (and sometimes funny) lyrics over happy, joyous, danceable ska-punk.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Beer – it’s a song about descending into extreme alcoholism to avoid dealing with the pain and heartbreak of a love gone awry.
Don’t Stop Skankin’ – it’s an instrumental.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Hey, I’ll be excited to get work over with for the day so I can get back to drinkin’!

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
On the Australian Warped Tour all the bands had to ride on a greyhound style bus and every night when we got to the next festival sight, they handed out individual tents for us to sleep in. And Warren from The Vandals slammed his wiener in a door…repeatedly for 5 minutes one day…or maybe multiple days, I only saw it once.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted to open up for Right Said Fred…but I’d settle for Engelbert Humperdinck.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Don’t wear sandals or flip flops in the mosh pit, you will be sorry! And make sure you go watch my band Reel Big Fish, our music has magical healing properties that will make you immune to sunburn…for the first 4 minutes of our set.

Woe, Is Me

17_1_wim600Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
I’m Hance and I’m the singer. We’re based out of Atlanta, GA.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This actually is my first Warped Tour and I’m pretty stoked. I guess I’m honestly just excited for Warped in general, it’s been a dream of mine to play Warped for as long as I can remember. Being able to say I’m actually doing it is really cool.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Well we’ve been working hard on lots of new music. Our band has definitely had its share of member changes so I think Warped is gonna be our first step into really proving ourselves and stepping in a positive direction. So expect lots of new music and chances for crowd participation. We like to have a good time and we wanna make sure the fans do as well.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Well in November we released our Sophomore album “Genesis“. Just in time for summer, we’ll be releasing a 2 disc special edition of that album with all new songs that we actually just recorded with producer Tom Denney. Basically Genesis was inspired by the idea that this is something new from all of us, basically a fresh start. And the new special edition reiterates that as well, incorporating even more new Woe, Is Me songs.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Vengeance – this song was written about being let down and shunned by someone important to you, but ultimately rising above it in the end.
A Story To Tell – this song basically covers the fact that we all have our own stories to tell, regardless of how rough and rocky our pasts may be, ultimately those experiences made us who we are.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Well, personally I’m not too worried about it. I’m just excited to be on the tour.

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
Actually on my first U.S. tour, we were in Orlando , FL and I went down to the barricade to interact with the kids and some girl bit me 3 times up the arm. It was pretty intense and I thought I was gonna turn into a zombie or something.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
I’d wanna open up for Boston because my dad always played them around me and they are one of the classic rock bands that inspired me to want to play music and tour.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Be safe! Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and most of all, just have fun. Go crazy! Go watch a band you wouldn’t normally listen to, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Young London

young london feb 2013Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Sarah Graziani. I sing for Young London and we’re from Boston , MA .

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
Matt and I played a DJ set for the first half of the tour last year, but this year we’re really looking forward to doing the whole tour with our full band!

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Haha definitely stay hydrated and wear sunscreen!! I sound like a mom. Also the catering is to die for.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Lots of confetti, and pretty much a giant outdoor dance party. We’re psyched.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our upcoming EP is called “Instincts“, because over the past year we finally learned to trust ours.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Ooh. I know Matt is most excited to play one of our new songs, “I Still Dream“. The theme of the song is a post-apocalyptic love story. My new favorite is a song called “Infinite Love“. It’s sort of space-themed and also a love song.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Hahaha we don’t care, we will take it upon ourselves to wake those kiddies up right quick!! Nothing like heavy dance beats first thing in the morning.

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
We did once encounter a man who was trying to “hold up” a gas station with a broken off gas-pump handle. He then approached our van and invited us to his apartment for a turkey dinner.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Ooooh right now I’d have to say either Ellie Goulding or Tegan and Sara. I love what those ladies have been doing lately!! Electronic awesomeness.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Get your game faces on, cuties.
