NIGHT RIOTS

nightriots1Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Rico Rodriguez and we are from Templeton, CA.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This will be our first time playing Warped Tour. We are most excited about the unique setting that this tour takes place in; it is like a roving circus.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
We always bring unique elements to our live performance but Warped Tour will be interesting because our style of music is very different from the general population of bands on the tour. We will be the odd man out and we like it that way.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our last release was titled “HOWL“. We felt that the album had a feral quality to it.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
We will likely play Contagious and Oh My Heart on this tour. Contagious is a song about taking responsibility for who you are. People like to blame others for their mistakes but it is important to be humble.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
We will play whenever it is necessary. We ain’t afraid of nothin.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road?
We hit a rain storm that felt more like an ocean was being poured out on us. I had never experienced such a powerful downpour in my life. I felt like I was steering a ship out at sea rather than driving a car.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
GWAR. Reason being, well they are GWAR.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Wear sunscreen or burn.

OUR LAST NIGHT

ourlastnigh4Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Trevor Wentworth, I sing in Our Last Night. I’m originally from New Hampshire but have recently moved to California.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
Well this is the first FULL year of playing Warped Tour and luckily we’ve got lots of other friends that are on the tour, so I’m excited to hang out with them and of course I’m excited to play in front of all our amazing fans while gaining new fans and meeting new people.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
We only have done two weeks of Warped Tour, but I would say DRINK LOTS OF WATER! And put yourself out there; don’t be afraid of what people will think. Be yourself. Do the best you can do.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
The first show in Pomona we’ve got something up our sleeves for sure. But every day we are going to try and do something unique, something that people will always remember.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
The last thing we released was an EP called Oak Island. We have just announced our new record Younger Dreams and it will be out 6.16.15. The title for Younger Dreams came from a song we wrote, and basically it’s about how when you are young you are inspired by the little things, you believe that what you want to be is what you CAN be. We want to remind people that this is still not impossible; we want our fans to feel young, feel inspired and feel motivated to be the best they can be.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Sunrise – I wrote the song about our fans or really anyone out there who is unfortunate enough to go through such a thing like bullying. We think it is a very important subject to touch base upon and we want everyone to know that they will never be alone. We as a band will always be here for you, along with all your loved ones.

Home – I wrote this song about leaving home when I go on tour, I’ve got a beautiful girlfriend and a perfect little son, and as you could imagine it’s extremely hard to leave them. As this song has somewhat of a sad feeling to it, I gave the lyrics more of a hopeful vibe. “No matter how far we find ourselves, our love will keep us close.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
I’m stoked. Any slot on Warped Tour is a good slot. If you are one to complain about that, you shouldn’t be on the tour.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road?
Yeah actually, on the tour we are currently on our bus driver stole 15,000 euros from us then left for the airport while we were playing… It’s all good. We will be getting the money back.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Well obviously the Beatles because well…. They are the greatest band of all time. But I would love to do a tour with 30 Seconds To Mars. I feel like our new record would fit in with them great, and they are such an incredible band.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Have fun, be safe and I’ll see you there!

PALISADES

palisades2Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
Hey guys! We are Palisades from New Jersey.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
We are looking forward to opening up our fan base and playing in front of as many people as possible!

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
A really good time, a party, a release of energy which will leave you sweaty and happy you came.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
The title “Mind Games” was inspired by us being in a point in our lives and relationships with people that we felt were testing us and essentially playing Mind Games on us. We felt it was fitting.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
No Chaser is a song that we feel that a lot people can relate to. It’s a song about wanting to be able to talk to someone you like or find attractive but are having trouble. I mean everyone can relate to that one! Player Hater’s Ball is a song about brushing off the hate that people are giving you.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
We are ready for it. No matter how big you get as a band you still have to pay your dues in some way. It will be rough, but it will pay off.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road?
We actually saw a drive by shooting happen which was really life changing. It was a very unfortunate thing to see but it gave us a better appreciation for life and what we are doing.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Linkin Park would be awesome because their fans would be able to understand what we are doing and see that younger bands are doing big things as well!

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Be open to all kinds of music that Warped Tour offers nowadays. Don’t be close minded, have a great time.

THE RELAPSE SYMPHONY

the_relapse_symphony_june_2015Introduce yourself, what you do in your band, and where you are based out of?
Bret: I’m Bret and I sing in the band.
JC: I’m JC and I play guitar. We are based out of Washington DC.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
Bret: I’m just excited to get back on tour man. It’s been too long. We’ve been locked in the studio making a record we’re really proud of and I just wanna play these songs live. This record was written specifically to kick everyone’s ass on Warped.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
JC: This is our first time playing but we have attended it a few times. I’m looking forward to seeing what everything’s like on the other end of things.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Bret: We have often been told that we are a rarity these days because of our live show. Nobody really stands still and tries to play perfect, we just fucking lose it and hope nothing breaks.
JC: I think with these new heavier songs people are going to finally hear music that reflects the live show we put on too.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Bret: Our new record is entitled Born To Burn. We had a lot of ideas for titles but we just kept coming back to that one.
JC: To me, it’s a statement we all connect with deep down. The idea that we come from the wrong side of the tracks, born to lose. It’s taking a negative and making it a positive. We’re proud of who we are.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
Bret: There’s one called “A Perfect Lie” that was inspired by some less than positive business relationships we were dealing with leading up to the recording. It’s about people who take advantage of bands. A lot of the reason music isn’t doing as well these days is that the industry has become so cannibalistic.
JC: “Born to Burn” is another one I’m excited to play. It’s a total outlaw anthem with almost a party vibe, but it’s pretty heavy too. I can just see people bobbing their heads to it.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Bret: I’ve already told myself I can’t party as hard as on other tours because I’m so used to drinking all night with the other bands and not having to wake up until mid-day.

Any strange or unusual happening sin the past while out on the road?
JC: Too many to list.
Bret: Every day with us is strange and unusual.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Bret: That’s so tough! I guess I’ll say Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers because I know JC is gonna say The Ramones.
JC: Ramones

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Bret: Don’t miss our set if you like god damn good music.
JC: Drink lots of water and watch as many bands as possible.

SIRENS & SAILORS

sirens11Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
Hello everyone! My name is Kyle Bihrle and I am the lead vocalist for the band Sirens & Sailors based out of Rochester, NY!

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
Although we were lucky enough to be chosen to play our local Warped Tour date by submitting to the Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands in 2011, and invited to play the 2014 Mansfield, MA Warped Tour date, this will be our first time on the actual tour. We are so excited to be a part of what has been a dream/goal of ours ever since this band started. We are looking forward to experiencing the Warped Tour atmosphere day in and day out for a few weeks. Meeting new people, watching some of our favorite bands, and of course getting to play!

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Our set will be completely new to everyone, mainly because we are releasing a brand new album while on Warped Tour. Of course we will be playing a mix of new songs and older favorites, all while completely losing our shit on stage. Anything is possible, we may even have a couple of friends from other bands come help us out with some songs 😉

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
We are not quite ready to release the title of our upcoming CD, but all will be revealed soon!

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
The Chosen One” is a song about never doubting what you are capable of. It’s an inspirational song that sends a message of encouragement to the listener. No matter what the people around you may say, you control your future, and even when reaching your goals may seem far away, they might actually be closer to accomplishing than you think.

Go For The Throat” is about not letting anyone stand in your way, or allowing others to destroy what you have worked so hard to create. Some people just don’t have respect for those of us who see the bigger picture. Never lose sight of what is important to you. Remove the negative opinions from your life, “go for the throat” and never look back.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
Beggars can’t be choosers. We have waited for this opportunity our entire lives, and we know what it means to earn your place. You won’t ever hear us complain about our time slot, we are just grateful to be a part of this legendary tour. Whether we play when the gates are opening, or as the sun goes down, you will always see us giving 100% to those willing to listen and pay attention.

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
There are always bumps in the road, negative or positive; they have shaped us to the band we are today. It’s funny, because even the most unfortunate times on tour have become some of our greatest/funniest memories. We are sure that our journey during our travels on Warped Tour will give us even more memories to look back on.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Personally, if I could even play in the same vicinity of AC/DC that would be the most amazing feeling. Even though we don’t exactly sound similar to that band, they are a huge reason why I play the music that I do. True Rock and Roll legends that I have admired ever since I can remember.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Of course I do! Guys and gals, I know that you are excited to see all of your favorite bands at Warped Tour this year, but I ask one simple favor of you…go check out a band you have never heard of during your day at Warped Tour! You may even find your new favorite band, just open your minds to music. Also, be sure to stay hydrated, that’s extremely important as well. If you see me walking around or hanging out at our tent, please come say hello and introduce yourselves. I am so excited to see you all this summer!

SUMO CYCO

DSC_0033Introduce yourself, what you do in your band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Skye aka Sever from the band Sumo Cyco. We’re based in Toronto, Canada.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This is our first time playing beyond the hometown Toronto date on Warped. We’re extremely excited to meet the Warped crowds in new places we haven’t played before and introduce them to our music.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
It is our first time, but we have some friends that have played the tour before. They say get ready to be sweaty, hot and tired. Ha-ha but I’ve also heard it’s the “BEST DAY EVER!”

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
Organized chaos. We love putting on a show, giving it all we have every day and interacting with the crowd. I love to jump, scream, rap, dance and let myself be free on stage.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our latest release is “LOST IN CYCO CITY” It’s inspired by our insane world we create in all our music videos. Cyco City is like our band own comic book, b-movie universe where anything goes.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
FIGHTER“- Is our latest single. It’s a pretty fierce empowering track about being strong and never giving up in the face of a challenge. Everyone has had to fight for something in their lives. Recently our fans sent us videos letting us know what they are fighters and it was really heavy, but inspiring to see all different kids overcome all these obstacles.

The UGLY” – The Ugly is the part inside each of us that tells us that we can’t do something or that we aren’t good enough. Some people get taken over by the monster and become the villain in their own lives. The greatest war you’ll wage is the war within yourself. Internal demons have always been a strong theme in my writing.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
We know that’s part of the deal when you get asked to do Warped Tour, so we’ll kill it and wake the kids up!

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road?
When something does strange NOT happen on the road is the question! Our last show in London the fire alarm went off right after our set. Everyone at the venue poured out on to the street and hung out in front of the fire truck. We just laughed and took pics with all the kids in front of the fire engine, pretty much turning the party into a block party on the streets of Camden. It was awesome.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
I think it’d be sick to open up for No Doubt. Gwen has been a big influence in my life.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Just that we’d love to meet you so come visit our tent. We have a bunch of cool free giveaways so it’s definitely worth stopping by. Don’t for get to catch our set cause we’re super stoked to bring our A game!

TROPHY EYES

10926204_804722942914599_5806205284920989209_nIntroduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is John and I sing for Trophy Eyes. We’re all based out of the East coast of Australia, a short drive from Sydney.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
This will be our first time on Warped Tour. I hear so much that it’s the hardest tour in the world, and that if you can do Warped you can do any tour. I’m pretty excited for the challenge. Our whole crew is pretty green in that sense. Like, we’ve all toured Australia a fair bit, the UK and Europe, but I heard Warped tour is a whole different thing. I’m stoked to be doing it with such awesome dudes, and I’m interested to see how close this kind of challenge brings us. That, and I’m gonna get really fucked up every single night in America – that should be fun too.

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
We play a pretty energetic set. It’s kinda hard to just hang out and not do much when you’re jumping around and screaming and shit. Other than that, we really try to encourage as much crowd involvement as we can. It’s awesome when everyone is vibing and jumping off shit and crawling on each other.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
We only recently released an LP called Mend, Move On. I guess the concept behind the album inspired the name. It’s made up of all the stories that kind of influenced or affected my life in some way.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
I’d say we’ll play In Return and May 24. They’re two pretty important songs to me. In Return is kind of an apology to my mother for how I treated her when I was younger. My mum and dad were married for 14 years before they broke up. I was pretty young then so I didn’t quite understand the heartache and physical hardships of a divorce let alone raising three kids as a single mother on a minimum wage. A few years later, mum finally found someone else to love, and move on with, but because he wasn’t dad I made it very hard for them both. Later that year, more bad followed mum in the form of a phone call diagnosing mum with MS, a degenerative disease that slowly kills all motor skills and strips the casing of your nerves leaving behind a great deal of constant and unbearable pain, and one day resulting in being confined to a wheelchair. In Return is an apology to my mother for all of the hardships she went through, smiling, that I could have helped with but didn’t.

May 24 is about a close friend of mine that struggled with an intravenous drug addiction for a couple of years. It reflects on our personal struggles like having to leave the town we grew up in, or me sneaking my dinners from my house at night and binging them to him and watching him eat, in fear that he might die if he didn’t.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
I’m playing Warped Tour. I don’t care what time it is.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road?
We were in Thailand to record Mend, Move On and there was a bar super close to the studio – I think it was called beach bar, maybe. Anyway, we were down there for beers late one night after tracking when we noticed a couple of kids hanging out the front. They were pretty friendly. They waved and greeted us and then just went about their business so we kind of continued drinking and hanging out. A few minutes later the road in front of the bar was crawling with Thai teenagers, all male, and things were getting quite aggressive. We were paying close attention at this point until one of them pulled out a gun and started pointing it at all the other kids. Someone came out of the crowd and hit him with a bat of some sort and then all hell broke loose. Bikes and kids were going everywhere, and we all stuffed our wallets in our underpants and sprinted to the back of the bar.  The action lasted all night, with the two gangs chasing each other all over the street on bikes and we had front row seats. That was pretty full on.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
I don’t know, Queen maybe because they are the best band in the world. Maybe Coldplay, but I couldn’t imagine them being super nice guys. Maybe Kanye because of all the coke and women.

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
I’m single!

WHILE SHE SLEEPS

whileshesleeps2015Introduce yourself, what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
Hello, I’m Aaran and I play bass guitar in the Sheffield based band While She Sleeps.

What are you looking forward to the most about Warped Tour and is this your first time on the tour?
Warped Tour is an absolute barrel of laughs. This will be our second time playing the full tour. Our first time being a couple of years ago in 2013, and it is literally summer camp for bands. Chilling in the sun all day with beers, mates and getting to play outdoors in front of 100s of fans every day. Can’t get much better than that.

If this is not your first time on Warped Tour, what advice would you give a band about to attempt Warped for the first time?
Be mentally prepared to play before breakfast. Some days you can wake up at 10:30am being told you have 30 minutes before stage time, because there’s never a fixed slot for anyone to play. It’s luck of the draw every day. We called those early shows a metal breakfast sandwich ha-ha

What could one expect from your live show at Warped Tour?
A lot of energy. A lot of sweat. Probably us getting in your faces down in the pit!

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our latest release is called Brainwashed, and the modern state of the world inspired it really. You see, people get thrown in to this rollercoaster of a life and are conditioned against their control from birth to believe that they are nothing more than a cog in the wheel of the capitalist economy. Getting told of to think, what to believe and what to feel. The prominent message is a wakeup call to change the current narrative of the world and overcome the atrocities that make people fear change.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and what inspired the lyrics.
We will most likely be playing the title track “Brainwashed“. The main concept being what I have just explained in the previous question about the state of the world. Also we’ll most likely be playing “Method In Madness” which is inspired by the same sort of thing but takes a specific look at the government side of things. Although our songs have specific meanings and concepts we encourage anyone to interpret the songs into what it means to them.

How are you going to feel about playing those infamous 11:30 AM Warped Tour slots?
We have experience with playing those slots. We’re big and ugly enough now to face whatever Warped can throw at us ha-ha

Any strange or unusual happening in the past while out on the road?
I think the right question to ask is “Does anything normal happen while out on the road?” ha-ha Touring is not the most conventional life style and is no walk in the park for anyone who thinks we’re constantly on holiday. To name a story though there was this one time we were on tour in Australia with a band called House vs Hurricane. One night after a show we slept in a horror movie style motel and were heckled by complete strangers through a locked door adjoining 2 rooms. Thinking it was the House vs Hurricane guys we heckled back and wasn’t until we saw the House vs Hurricane van pull up that we realized it wasn’t them and it was a pretty tense night’s sleep, but was hilarious the next day telling the dudes.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
That’s quite a hard one! Although I’d probably have to pick Slipknot. Would be pretty incredible opening up for that band!

Do you have any messages for Warped Tour attendees this year?
Yes, please come out and mosh with us in the steaming hot sun all summer! We will usually be out and about the festival or at our merch tent so come find us! I will also be doing Bass technique lessons for TEI this summer! So let’s hang out!
