BAND PERFORMS ON LEGENDARY GAME SHOW “THE PRICE IS RIGHT” ON JANUARY 15
In anticipation of their new CD slated to drop in Summer 2010, THE DOLLYROTS will gear up to release a new two song EP to street on Tuesday, January 12 on Blackheart Records. The band, comprised of Kelly Ogden (bass/vocals), Luis Cabezas (guitar) and Chris Black (drums), are also scheduled to perform their new track California Beach Boy on legendary game show The Price is Right on CBS on Friday, January 15, along with their hit Because I’m Awesome!
The Dollyrots were founded by longtime friends Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas — whose relationship stems back to eighth-grade middle school. In 2004, the band self-released their debuted Eat My Heart Out to rampant success before being picked up by the venerable Lookout!/Panic Button Records. Their rising profile led to a slot on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, where they hooked up with drummer Chris Black and solidified the final Dollyrots line-up. The tour proved not only to be a huge stepping stone for the band, but also an opportunity to connect with one of its VIP artists, Joan Jett. Jett took a liking to The Dollyrots and offered to add the band to the roster of her label, Blackheart Records.
In 2007, revitalized and ready to conquer with their newfound home, The Dollyrots released their new CD Because I’m Awesome to rave reviews, and was voted “Coolest Song In The World — 2007″ by the listeners of Little Steven’s Underground Garage. The title track has appeared in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Bring It On: Fight To The Finish, Reaper, and Ugly Betty, while several other tracks have been featured on other major network shows. The Dollyrots have appeared on The Sauce (Fuse) and Greek (ABC Family), as well as Kohl’s Department Stores nationally aired commercial starring the band as themselves.
After criss-crossing the country with non-stop touring the past few years, The Dollyrots are currently putting the finishing touches for their upcoming full-length release due Summer 2010.
