Detroit, MI – December 15, 2011 – Soulful Pop crooner, Eric Nicolau is set to self-release his first solo album, Won’t You Stay, on January 10th. With an active role as a guitar and keyboard player in the band on FOX’s hit show, “GLEE,” and a recent stint playing guitar for the pop rock band Allstar Weekend on Selena Gomez’s summer tour, Eric is keeping the momentum of his career moving forward and stepping into the spotlight, especially with the support of his fans who coined themselves, “The Ninjas.”

Playing the guitar, bass, piano, drums and trombone – he draws inspiration from a wide range of musicians including Radiohead, The Beach Boys and Ray Charles. His 7-track album, Won’t You Stay, shows a promising range of capability, with sounds comparable to the likes of Bruno Mars, John Mayer and Robin Thicke. His first single off the album, “How We Grow Old,” is a powerful ballad with its poignant lyrics and nostalgia-evoking guitar riffs. “This song is a reflection on falling in love and wanting to know what will happen in the next phase of the relationship…. How does life together with someone you love unfold? Is it possible to stay in love forever?” says Eric.

By the end of 2010, Eric had ventured into co-writing while toiling away his daytime selling shoes at Kenneth Cole. He contributed work to several artists including singer Chelsea Williams, Italian-American TV star Stefan Di Maria and American Idol winner, Lee DeWyze. But it was the opportunity to play guitar in the back-up school band for one episode of “GLEE” that jolted Eric onto another level, allowing him to quit his shoe store job and focus solely on his music career.

A Brazilian-American who speaks both English and Portuguese fluently, Eric’s talent has really caught the attention of the Latin community. He pays homage to his massive Brazilian fan base by covering a song by the Brazilian samba-rock sensation Jorge Ben, in which he sings in Portuguese. “My grandparents and my father were both from Sao Paulo and were very passionate about samba music and bossa nova,” says Eric. “My father gave me my first guitar at age 8 and taught me how to play ‘Corcovado‘ by Jobim.”

Born and raised in Detroit, MI, after his father’s family relocated from Brazil, Eric’s childhood was a balancing act between his love for American Pop music and his connection with the jazz and Brazilian music of his grandmother’s record collection. Now, 24-years-old and settled into his life in Los Angeles, Eric has developed a strong sense of identity as a musical artist, in which his multi-cultural influences allow him to bring a unique depth to American Pop. Recently returned from paying a visit to his fan clubs in Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro, Eric is back in Los Angeles, looking forward to working on future episodes of “GLEE” and preparing for tour dates in 2012.
