GREY NOISE, WHITE LIES by EXETER (Engineer Records/Pop Up Records)
With bands like Hum and Failure not around, rock atmospheric alternative sound escapes are getting harder to find. But now here comes along a band out of Texas that is setting the tone right for dreamy guitars layered with ambient textures to take presence after a long lapse. This is a debut release but it seems very well produced and orchestration in the songs shows in the production of the whole tripped out sound. So if you like space rock shoegaze bands like Swervedriver, Sunny Day Real Estate, Year Of The Rabbit then give this record a chance. Some of the stand out tracks are: Shadowboxing, Window, Everyday Parade and Planet X (which would make for a great video as well). (Jonathan D. Wright)
