Femme Fatale at The Whisky

femmefatalelive1Femme Fatale, The Whisky, September 5, 2015

As the decadent 80’s were spinning to an end, the wonderful world of rock and roll was very thriving on the Sunset Strip. Arriving during the height of Hollywood’s glam metal explosion, Femme Fatale found themselves signed to MCA Records after playing a total of ten gigs. Fronted by the insatiable Lorraine Lewis, Femme Fatale would unveil one highly memorable album – a self-titled effort featuring the hit singles I’m Waiting For The Big One and Falling In and Out of Love. After a high profile tour with Cheap Trick, things began to fall part, and by the dawning of the 90’s, Femme Fatale had called it quits. After exploring other musical concepts and genres, Lorraine Lewis decided to reform Femme Fatale in 2013. And during the Labor Day weekend, Lorraine Lewis and company were set to play their first ever headlining gig at the world famous Whisky!

Just right before magical midnight hour, Femme Fatale took to the stage, and set the club on fire with their glorious rock and roll anthems. Falling In And Out of Love was the first song to be performed, and it clearly cemented the fact that Femme Fatale 2015 as one of the very best all female rock bands on the planet today. And the hits just kept on shining through, from the raging hot inflections of My Baby’s Gun, to the wildly infectious Back In Your Arms Again and beyond.

femmefatalelive2In 2015, Lorraine Lewis has the powerhouse vocals and fierce magnetism to bring the classic Femme Fatale songs to ultra-vivid life. What an absolutely thrilling performance Ms. Lewis presents, exuding passion and conviction throughout each and every song. The guitar shredding is brought to you courtesy of Courtney Cox and Nikki Stringfield – also known for their participation in The Iron Maidens. Janis Tanaka (formerly of Fireball Ministry, L7 and more) supplies a thunderous low end on bass while Athena unleashes a dynamic fury on the drums. Katt Scarlett colors everything in with her exquisite keyboard work.

Towards the end of the set, Michael Grant of L.A. Guns made an appearance during One More For The RoadFemme Fatale now supplying a three-axe shred attack that was wondrous to behold thanks to their surprise special guest. And then it was time for the explosive I’m Waiting For The Big One, which certainly had the entire Whisky crowd enraptured and singing along.

For the encore, Lorraine Lewis returned to the stage, truly overwhelmed by the love and support the fans were showing her and Femme Fatale. Closing with an emotional rendition of Rebel, Ms. Lewis and company presented a memorable grand finale that would leave a lasting impression on all in attendance.  Here’s hoping we see a lot more of Femme Fatale on the Sunset Strip soon, as this band is still hotter than the dead of summer in the City of Angels!
