Avant-Garde by Elenora (Self-released EP)
Based out of Eugene, Oregon in the picturesque Pacific Northwest, Elenora present a spiraling brand of post hardcore that is sure to be a sonic addiction to many. Fans of acts such as Chiodos and Circa Survive are destined to encounter a new favorite when checking into the marvelous refrains from Elenora’s striking compositions.
Avant-Garde is Elenora’s second EP, and judging by the five tunes heard within, the band is sure to gain a good deal of attention from music lovers, industry types and beyond. Elenora deliver the songs with a heartfelt conviction, and the results are vastly rewarding.
Kicking off with the soaring reveries of Bedfellow, the listener is instantly hooked by the thrilling vocals and the truly imaginative performances from all musicians involved. Lost In The Sea sails into your consciousness next; a wondrously impassioned tune that transports the listener on a wistful yet adventurous voyage through hope and longing.
Rome Is Where The Art Is remains dramatic and sweeping in scope, a captivating piece showing Elenora at the very height of their creativity. An Open Book is grand and epic – a multi-layered track that is absolutely dazzling to the senses; And then closing out Avant-Garde on a triumphant note is Star Crossed Lovers (aka Everyone’s Waiting), with an exhilarating chorus that will ring joyously throughout your ears long after the disc spins to its conclusion.
The dual guitar work on Avant-Garde is imaginative and inspiring, courtesy of Kurt Fields and Casey James. Justin Arp on bass and Nicholas M. Taylor on drums make for a tremendous tight, thoroughly professional rhythm section. The keyboard work weaves throughout the songs like the remnants of a vivid and memorable dream, presented with a skilled sense of artistry by Victor Prescott. And bringing it all home with passion and intrigue is Alexander Prescott, whose mesmerizing vocals transport the material into the stratosphere. Produced and engineered by Ryan Furlott (It Prevails, Years Spent, Anchorage) of Rain City Records, Avant-Garde is a breathtaking collection of songs from a band we’ll be hearing a whole lot more about within the months to come. Stay tuned…
