Hello World by Amely (Fearless Records)
Fearless Records has been signing a good amount of supremely talented bands lately. One such collective is Amely, based out of Orlando, Florida but destined to take the country by storm if their debut EP is an indication of thing to come. Their first Fearless release, Hello World, consists of eight memorable tracks sure to garner the band a good deal of attention. Fans of Jimmy Eat World and Anberlin will really want to take notice of what this terrific new band has to offer.
Hello World begins with anthem-like guitars which lead to the infectious tones of Now Or Never – a winning cut that should bowl over even the most casual of listener. Sing To You is an inspiring track that should melt more than a few frosty hearts with its romantic lyricism.
I’d Rather Be Alone is big and victorious, featuring swirling guitar work and wonderfully impassioned vocals. Say Goodbye continues the impressive rock reveries, complete with a rousing chorus of, “This is your chance, lift up your hands,” and “get up, get out and scream” – sentiments many of their fans will be singing along with in a live setting.
Come Back To Me has stunning dynamics, showing off each and every Amely member in a positive light – especially when the soaring chorus comes into play. All You Need is sure to rock your socks off with its Goo Goo Dolls-like inflections – definitely a song that will make you want to take on the world!
The band even succeeds wildly at a ballad, as the moving strains of Have You Ever Known is pure pop perfection, with highly effective vocals and super tight musicianship. “Hello world, have you even missed me?” muses the epic title track, which closes the album on a gloriously stratospheric note.
Hello World is a sure triumph for Amely – short yet sweet, leaving the listener wanting to hear a whole lot more. The absolutely rock solid lineup consists of Petie Pizarro on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Patrick Ridgen on bass, Brandon Walden on lead guitar, and Nate Parsell on drums. A whole parade of top-notch producers worked on this, including Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Cartel) and Mike Green (Paramore, Breathe Carolina) – together the team has come out with a stunning debut effort that could only serve as a prologue for ever greater avenues of success.
Powerhouse vocals, resourceful musicianship and rockin’ songs abound – surely an uplifting effort that many a music fan will want to send a great big hello to. Hopefully we’ll be greeting these guys on Warped Tour next year…
