Inheritors by Serianna (Bullet Tooth Records)

Based out of the Madison, Wisconsin music scene, the locals in the area are well acquainted with Serianna’s energetic live shows and memorable songs. Now signed to Bullet Tooth Records, Serianna has unleashed a powerful recording entitled Inheritors that is sure to gain the band a good deal of national attention. Fans of entities such as The Devil Wears Prada and August Burns Red are going to fall hard for the devastating sounds emitting from Serianna’s persuasive full length debut.

The disc slams into high gear with the dynamic Fragments – “We need a miracle” the chorus screams with a strong sense of urgency, closing out the track with an empowering gang vocal. Guilty Spark is up next, igniting the impassioned quotient to an even further degree. The Rescue excels with its metallic guitars and introspective lyrical content, sounding almost like a melodic European death metal entity.

Virtues is intensive and exhilarating, following by the mesmerizing title track Inheritors – both songs guaranteed to give you whiplash when head banging is attempted. A brief reprieve is offered with the haunting strains of Colors, a dreamlike excursion before blasting into the restless tones of the thrashing Deep Sleeper.

Cast Away starts out with sludgy guitar riffs and segues into a deluge of swampy extremities. The breakneck pace just doesn’t let up, as demonstrated with the hypersonic sounds of Redeemer. And then closing out the Inheritors exhibition on a fiery note is the aptly titled Revelations, leaving the listener spent yet wanting to hear a whole lot more.

The Serianna lineup is absolutely first rate, featuring powerhouse performances from Chris Nutting on vocals, Kris Meyer-Ruef on guitar, Chris Ferraro on drums, James Milbrandt on guitar, and Lee Milbrandt on bass. With Inheritors, Serianna has unleashed an ambitious work that is both heartfelt and intensive. Impressively produced by Joel Wanasek at JTW Studios.
