Joe Perry at The Roxy

Joe Perry and Friends Record Release Party, The Roxy, January 16, 2018

Legendary guitarist Joe Perry presented a rare and intimate concert at the jammed packed Roxy Theater on the Sunset Strip, unleashing a rock and roll extravaganza that would be remembered for the ages. Celebrating the imminent unveiling of his latest solo endeavor Sweetzerland Manifesto, Joe Perry clearly demonstrated why he is one of the most compelling guitarists on the planet. Best known for his participation within the iconic Aerosmith, Perry has amassed an impressive catalog of solo material as well.

The show was long sold out, and scalper tickets were going for as much as $150-$300 outside. The lucky ones who were able secure admission into the hallowed walls of The Roxy were treated a blockbuster set featuring Perry’s dynamic guitar work and an entire army of seasoned musicians! There was a tremendous excitement permeating throughout the room, and once Perry and his band made their way to the stage, the adoration from the sold out house was nothing short of monumental.

Joe Perry and his top notch band opened with Let The Music Do The Taking from his solo album of the same name. And what would immediately follow were two Aerosmith classics – Toys In The Attic and Pandora’s Box – which Perry would refer to as a “warm up” for the greater glories that would follow. The rest of the set would mainly consist of selections from the Sweetzerland Manifesto magnum opus, and what a night to remember featuring a dazzling amount of guest performers! Included within the all-star lineup were the likes of Johnny Depp, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Gary Cherone of Extreme and Van Halen, David Johansen of The New York Dolls, and solo artist/vocalist extraordinaire Terry Reid.

I Wanna Roll was an infinite highlight, where the vital performing chemistry of Joe Perry and David Johansen would collide with wondrously explosive results. Another sparkling moment in time was when Robin Zander arrived onstage to belt out Aye Aye Aye – a pinnacle from Sweetzerland Manifesto that sounds absolutely amazing live!

Closing out the set with Rockin’ Train for his landmark Let The Music Do The Talking album, Joe Perry’s rock and roll party was far from over as the audience passionately demanded a very well deserved encore. Joe Perry certainly delivered, bringing his entire band as well as each and every guest performer onstage to unleash a blistering rendition of Come Together. And just when you think the night couldn’t be any more exceptional, the legendary Slash would arrive to lend his raging axe work to the epic grand finale of Train Kept-A-Rollin’. An unforgettable night at The Roxy to be sure, from the finest musicians in the business! Be sure to check into Sweetzerland Manifesto by Joe Perry, available January 19th via Roman Records!
