Kaya Stewart, The 16th Annual Pinktober Campaign at the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, October 8, 2015
The Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, located right in the heart of Tinseltown, kicked off their 16th Annual Pinktober Campaign , featuring a very special performance by the supremely talented Kaya Stewart. The event was free, but donations were being accepted by the City Of Hope, a leader in the fight for breast cancer. Dedicating the entire month to breast cancer awareness, The Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood presented a host of local opening acts, all committed to the cause of the campaign. And as a part of Pinktober, the Hard Rock Cafe locations was serving up sweet support with a special pink-inspired drink. The non-alcoholic Wildberry Smoothie is a frozen blend of fresh bananas, piña colada mix, orange juice and Monin Wildberry. This drink special carries the color of hope and raises funds for the cause, with a portion of proceeds benefiting The Breast Cancer Research Fund. Other items will be sold online at hardrock.com – such a creative endeavor for a worthy cause. The Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood went all out for their 16th annual Pinktober Campaign, and this would certainly include a vibrant performance from the one and only Kaya Stewart.
The daughter of Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Kaya has really been making a name for herself over this past year. Playing select dates on the Vans Warped Tour and the release of a hit single In Love With A Boy has garnered Ms. Stewart a good deal of attention. Inspired by the likes of Annie Lennox, who was her father’s partner in the Eurythmics, Kaya brings a good deal of passion and conviction to her live performances. Those who think they are going to witness a cutesy performance by a 15 year old girl will definitely do a double take when hearing the warm, mature voice and the dramatic stage presence Kaya Stewart has to offer the world at large. Songs such as Try It Out and Let’s Split show an artist ready to jump into the big leagues, conveying a wisdom way beyond her years. In the covers department, Kaya delivered a superb rendition of the Blondie classic Call Me, rendering this song all her own.
Of course the audience was waiting for the hit, and Kaya delivered tenfold when In Love With A Boy arrived towards the end of the set. The girls in front screamed when the song was announced, and once again Kaya exhibited an emotion and depth that made the material take flight. Noteworthy in Kaya’s band is bassist Nicole Row, who always plays in a fantastic Led Zeppelin tribute collective called Hammer Of The Broads. Kaya’s entire backup group is excellent, supplying rock solid support. What a treat is what to see Kaya Stewart and her band at the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood in the month of Pinktober, supporting such a wonderful cause.
