Los Angeles (November 14, 2011) – Jason Dunn, vocalist for the group Hawk Nelson has set the wheels in motion to record and release his first solo album. The project will go under the name Lights Go Down. Dunn’s band, Hawk Nelson hail from Ontario, Canada and have been signed to Tooth and Nail Records since 2004. Since that time the band has racked up 5 full-length albums and over 600,000 units sold.
RIAA gold accredited record producer Steve Kravac has been selected to produce, engineer and mix the release which will be entitled “Abandon Progress”. Steve’s discography includes the artists, M.X.P.X., Less Than Jake, Blink 182 and Pepper and his work has sold excess of 4,000,000 copies worldwide.
Dunn’s solo project has been on deck since 2010 and with sessions now locked down for the month of January 2012, his vision is about to become a reality. Drummer Justin Benner of Hawk Nelson will also be participating in the sessions. Information on a street date and label partner for the project will be released shortly.
Recording will take place in Vancouver B.C. at Profile Studios and mixing is scheduled for Hipposonic which is the former home of the iconic Mushroom Studios (Heart, Skinny Puppy, Sarah McLachlan).
Said Steve “the opportunity for both Jason and I as Canadians to work in Vancouver seemed like refreshing and appropriate setting to create his new project, sometimes you have to come home to find your path”.
Jason added, “I’m very excited to make my record in Vancouver. It’s such an honor to do the record with Steve. I’ve been a fan of his work for years.”
