Love Past Blue at Genghis Cohen

Clio Cadence of Love Past Blue at Genghis Cohen

Love Past Blue, Genghis Cohen, January 20, 2018

Love Past Blue from Dallas, Texas made their way into Hollywoodland, performing three showcases, including a set at Genghis Cohen that was as epic as their home state. There is so much imagination and energy to be found within a Love Past Blue live show, as those converging upon the tiny yet cozy Genghis Cohen club were about to witness. Comparisons to music icons such as No Doubt and Red Hot Chili Peppers may abound, but Love Past Blue possesses their own vividly unique style that will stun the senses of all types of music fans.  Whether it’s the superbly catchy songs or the wonderful performances from each and every band member, there a world of passion and conviction to be found within the Love Past Blue experience.

Even though these members are young, the massively talented participants of Love Past Blue exudes the skill and technique of seasoned professionals. Clio Cadence (16) is dynamic and charismatic, exuding both ferocity and grace in an absolutely vibrant, liberating performance. Jack Hickman (14) may be more laid back, but this kid can wail away on guitar with drive and conviction, unleashing solos that are wondrous to behold. Bassist Joe Galate (17) is a magnetic personality with super cool dreads and total rock star persona, and he packs a devastatingly funky low end which reverberated throughout the room. And then driving it all home with a kick ass precision was drummer Logan Ellis Sheppard. It comes as no surprise that a band this talented is now working with legendary management consultant Vicky Hamilton, who is best known for launching the careers of Guns ‘N Roses and Poison!

Love Past Blue rocking out at Genghis Cohen

Love Past Blue’s set was jam-packed with wickedly infectious, highly memorable songs. Vanilla was a confectious delight, playful and captivating – definitely one of those songs that will deliciously rage within your head for ages. VIP was also a standout, easily the trademark song for Love Past Blue that should be all over the radio airwaves. With No Means No, Love Past Blue fearlessly dives headfirst into social issue regarding sexual harassment, and what an empowering moment in time this was at Genghis Cohen! As Ms. Cadence stated from the stage, “this is a song about and for all of us.” And then for a much deserved encore, the band brought it down several notches and performed a near acoustic, heartfelt tapestry entitled Faded.

With three wildly successful shows in the City of Angels under their collective belts and a NAMM appearance to follow, Love Past Blue surely captivated even the most jaded of music critic. Future plans include the unveiling of their second studio recording, produced by the one and only Sylvia Massy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Powerman 5000). With a live performance this endearing plus the dazzling pop rocking tunes to back it all up, expect to hear a lot more from Love Past Blue in the future months ahead!
