“Bathed in neon synth licks, that seem to be a universal call to shake some hips…Pure heaven for folks who get down with Yeasayer and Phoenix.” – Nashville Scene
Nashville, TN – July 9, 2013 – Nashville based synth-pop quartet, Machines Are People Too, have announced that they will be releasing their sophomore EP, Nickels & Dimes on July 23rd, 2013. The band has been bringing their feel good sounds to the music festival circuit, with performances at Bonnaroo, Hangout Fest, Summerfest, Nocturnal Wonderland, and an upcoming set at this summer’s Lollapalooza. With six tracks packed with group vocals and up-tempo electro-beats, reminiscent of Passion Pit, Matt & Kim and Grouplove, Nickels & Dimes is set to be a staple on every summer playlist. Full tracklisting and tour dates listed below.
With Nickels & Dimes, the band decided to take risks and explore uncharted territory within the synth music scene. The band explains, “With this EP, we’ve had the opportunity to work with an elementary school choir, pieced together our own group of 15 backup singers, and explored new instruments outside of the synthesized world we’ve always known. It was created with the idea of bringing multiple voices together to create something that wasn’t only made by us, but something that anyone could be a part of and enjoy.”
Machines Are People Too began as a two-piece project between friends, JJ Clark (Bass) and Brian Sylvester (Vocals) in 2010. Shortly after, with the addition of Cain Lassiter (Keys), and Ivan Garcia (Drums), the band began touring regularly across the South East. Word of their unique synth-pop sound spread fast in 2012; with numerous festival appearances including Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Hangout Fest, and Nocturnal Wonderland.
