Holiday Tour Kicks Off December 6
Pre-Order Underway For Box Set Of Four Remastered Albums -Home To Myself, Bright Eyes, Melissa And Help Is On The Way – Scheduled For Release On December 2
GRAMMY® winner Melissa Manchester’s new single, “Let There Be More Light,” is out today and available everywhere, including iTunes, Amazon and Apple Music. Penned by Manchester, the song is a joyful, uplifting celebration of Chanukah. The single goes to radio on December 5.
“The overall theme of ‘Let There Be More Light‘ is that everyone can be a source of light – that is, a person of reason, compassion and understanding who makes a choice to do a good deed, a ‘mitzvah,’ every day, not just at holiday time,” says Melissa Manchester of the track, which is the first Chanukah song she has written. “Everyone knows ‘Feliz Navidad‘ by José Feliciano. It’s wonderfully simple, hummable and delightfully repetitive. I wanted to write a song as simple as that to celebrate Chanukah.”
The official music video for “Let There Be More Light” premiered today. It was directed by Paul Gervasi, who helmed the 2014 film, Cherri Future, and features the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale, the students of Wise School and members of the ULV A Cappella Barbershop Club, the Citrus Singers and the Blue Note Orchestra. It can be seen HERE on YouTube as well as on StandWithUs.com, Vimeo and at www.melissamanchester.com
Manchester produced the video in partnership with StandWithUs. an international, non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public about Israel and to combating the extremism and anti-Semitism that often distorts the issues.
“StandWithUs is a non-profit Israel educational organization, dedicated to shining light on the facts and prejudices about the Arab-Israeli conflict in order to promote peace in the region,” says Melissa Manchester. “I appreciate their pro-Israel position, and that their Israeli offices employ Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
She is very excited to be attending the organization’s annual Festival of Lights Gala at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA on December 11, where the video for “Let There Be More Light” will be screened. Last night, JLTV’s “Main Street with Phil Blazer” gave viewers a sneak peek of the video and interviewed Manchester.
In a new post on her website, Manchester shares how a young rabbi in Ventura County, CA provided the initial inspiration for “Let There Be More Light.” He spoke at a synagogue service that Manchester attended after a 2008 bomb blast at a Chabad Center in Mumbai. Having lost a friend, also a rabbi, in the massacre, he asked the community, “How do we carry on? Do we meet such darkness as this with more darkness? No. God commands us to bring more light into the world. More light!”
Manchester will kick off a holiday tour on December 6 with a headline show at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts in Wickenburg, AZ. The run includes a return engagement with the annual “Colors of Christmas” celebration, which also stars Oleta Adams, Jon Secada and Ruben Studdard. They will perform at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, CA (December 9) and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Cerritos, CA (December 10). Manchester will then head to Colorado Springs, CO, where she’ll headline the Broadmoor Holiday Show. The seven-night engagement also features Jim Salestrom, Marcus Lovett, Nelson Rangell and others. Manchester will continue touring into 2017. See below for itinerary. Tickets are available HERE.
