Oceano at The Whisky

Oceano, The Whisky, April 20, 2017

Oceano at The Whisky in Hollywood on 4/20 were nothing short of crazy live. The Whisky was definitely a full house that night and everyone was super hyped during their set. They came out on stage playing “The Taken” off their latest album Ascendants. They had announced they have a new album coming out on May 19th via their latest label Sumerian Records. They just signed with Sumerian a few months ago which is crazy to see since the last time I saw Oceano was at a Sumerian summer tour called the All Stars Tour a couple years ago.

Oceano’s production value was through the roof, their lights all synced up to their sound and the sound having no issues that night was also a plus. Everyone really enjoyed their set and it was pretty “lit” being it was 4/20, no pun intended. Their set was a bit short, they only played around 11 songs, a good hour or so, but regardless of that they put on a crazy performance. Their vocalist, Adam was talking about how he celebrates 4/20 and was kinda saying things about promoting self thought, which is always good. He was also saying how we all should go home after the show and do some research about higher authorities, which I suppose he meant aliens. I don’t exactly remember what he said, unfortunately, but he seemed to be an interesting guy and a free thinker.

Towards the end of the night as they finish up, they play something off every album, and the thing that made the crowd absolutely go wild was when they played “Samael the Destroyer“. That song is from way back in the MySpace days/early Facebook days, and it’s off of their album Depths. The crowd raged super hard that night, constant pits happening and arms flinging high.
