784903d8-50e2-4e9e-8d26-8674241e27abTHE WORD ALIVE RELEASES NEW SONG “OVERDOSE”

A week ahead of their winter headliner, Phoenix, AZ’s The Word Alive is excited to give fans a brand new song called “Overdose” to coincide with the tour. Lead singer Telle Smith describes the track as “an extension of Dark Matter,” the band’s latest studio album which was one of Alternative Press’ Most Anticipated Albums of 2016 and peaked at No. 1 on the iTunes Metal and Rock Charts.

“Our fans have seemed to really connect with our newer material in a deeper way,” Smith explains. “We feel that’s because of not just honing in on a sound that we feel is our own, but making sure that we’re continuing to raise awareness and be a positive impact to our listeners — even if the story being told needs to be a bleak one. ‘Overdose‘ was spawned when we looked around in the world and felt all we saw was darkness. We have seen friends specifically implode due to drug abuse. It may seem glamorized through movies and TV, but the reality is our vices can be the death of us and crush those around us. ‘Overdose‘ tells the first person story of someone lusting after a high that they will never maintain, while simultaneously destroying themselves and the life they loved. We are planning on donating a portion of proceeds from this song to help those in the music industry struggling with addiction, and will be using our platform and The Overdose Tour to raise awareness to our fans of the consequences of ignoring the mistakes of others. We hope you enjoy our newest track. We’ll be playing it nightly on our headlining tour this winter.”

The Word Alive will hit the road on The Overdose Tour with labelmates Volumes in addition to Islander and Invent, Animate. The tour will hit 30 cities, kicking off on Nov. 11 in Portland, OR, and run through Dec. 18, ending in Mesa, AZ. VIP tickets and General Admission are available now at Scroll down for full tour routing.

THE WORD ALIVE – Telle Smith (vocals), Zack Hansen (guitar), Tony Pizzuti (guitar), Daniel Shapiro (bass), Luke Holland (drums) – The Phoenix heavy alternative quintet began transmitting their message in 2009. 2010’s full-length Deceiver solidified them as a fan favorite as they tirelessly toured alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, and more – in addition to numerous stints on the Vans Warped Tour. Alternative Press and Revolver have sung their praises, Modern Drummer has featured Luke for his work in the band and mega-popular YouTube covers, Guitar World has spotlighted the interplay between Tony and Zack and their twin attack, and the band has graced the cover of Outburn Magazine. One of Alternative Press Magazine’s Most Anticipated Albums of 2016, Dark Matter is the band’s fourth full-length and the follow-up to 2013’s REAL. which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart.
