Paradise Kitty, The Viper Room, September 25, 2015
All Girls! All Guns N’ Roses! screamed the tag line of the poster announcing a live performance by none other than Paradise Kitty! Concluding a month of Friday nights at the notorious Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, Paradise Kitty rocked the tiny room into oblivion and beyond. There is little doubt that those across at the Whisky attending the Lynch Mob show heard the iconic Gn’R songs given the supreme treatment of super charismatic, all female band hell-bent on blowing the roof off The Viper Room. Tribute bands are really beginning to make an impact here in the City of Angels, and Paradise Kitty is one of the finest collectives playing in the area today. With superb musicianship and the looks and attitude to back it all up, Paradise Kitty is sure to rock your world with their dynamic stage show.
Kicking off their set with a wildly ferocious version of Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise Kitty had the very packed Viper Room purring and singing along. Front woman Jenna Syde channeled Axl Rose perfectly, unleashing a mesmerizing performance that really captivated the audience. She had performed earlier in the evening with her other band Jenna Syde and The Watchers, but there was no stopping the energy and ferocity exuding from this massively talented singer. Priscila Barrett made for a dazzling Slash, wearing a smaller top hat yet entrancing the audience with some fascinating axe work. Guitarist Hisako Osawa and bassist Caroline Cirone certainly shined, playing with a ton of passion and enthusiasm. And then there was drummer Rachael Rine, driving the beats home with an all-out vengeance. Together, Paradise Kitty enraptured the entire room, sending pulses racing into the stratosphere!
A few very special guests made their way up to the Viper Room stage to party along with the vivacious Paradise Kitty. Lorraine Lewis from Femme Fatale provided a pitch perfect harmony vocal for Jenna Syde on the song Sweet Child O’ Mine. It’s been great to see the vastly underrated Ms. Lewis playing shows out here in LA again – even if it’s just for a single wonderful song at the Viper Room. Michael Thomas, best known for his participation with Adler’s Appetite and Faster Pussycat, arrived on stage for Anything Goes, rendering that classic track an astonishing three guitar assault to your senses. Rocket Queen and Paradise City were delivered towards the end of the set, and the room was spinning with an explosive array of happy fans ready to party into the early hours of the morning. The Sunset Strip came to life in a vast and wondrous way, thanks to the gals who rocked it out in Paradise Kitty. Be sure to check out Paradise City the next time they rage into the wilds of Hollywood or beyond. Their fabulous tribute to the legendary Guns N’ Roses is not to be missed!
