Peter Hook & Light at The Henry Fonda Theatre

peterhookfonda2Peter Hook & Light, The Henry Fonda Theatre, September 21, 2013

Peter Hook is known for playing his trademark bass and key songwriter for New Order and Joy Division. He and his band The Light performed the entire first two New Order albums Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies.  They didn’t have an official encore but they did have a version of The Beach played while they took a sort quick break before ending the show. The great thing though was that the opening band called Slaves Of Venus turned out to be Peter Hook & The Light. Has Peter Hook & The Light changed it’s bands name or were they the surprise open bands replacement, not sure. But, instead we were treated to an exciting set of Peter Hook & The Light performing seven songs of Joy Division. The opening set included Transmission and Shadowplay to the crowds excitement and loud applause. One funny moment was when Peter Hook said “Don’t tell me if you can’t hear something correctly from the stage instead tell the sound man in the back of the hall that” which made the crowd laugh and chuckle a bit. Peter Hook showed his humbleness and his own excitement for being back at The Henry Fonda Theatre again and it showed throughout the night’s performance. The was a nice treat to end the official end of summer 2013 concerts.

(Editor’s Note: According to Peter Hook’s Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division book, Slaves Of Venus was an early band name Joy Division was considering using, as well Boys In Bondage…)
