Between Courtney’s gruff vocals and Hawkins’ steady drumming, the track has an emotional intensity akin to the Foo’s own ‘Times Like These.’ – Consequence of Sound

Grunge-rock three-piece, Radio Black has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund recording for the rest of their debut album, at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606. The band recently premiered one of the three songs already recorded at the famed workspace, “Run Away,” featuring Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters on drums, as well as an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at their time in the famed studio, over at Consequence of Sound, here:

Recorded and produced by the legendary John “Lou” Lousteau, Fireball Ministry front-man and “Sound City” documentary producer Jim Rota, and Brad Smith of Blind Melon, Radio Black’s upcoming LP will also feature collaborations with Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), and Mick Murphy (My Ruin, Chevy Metal). For more information or to pledge a contribution, please visit the kickstarter campaign here:

The band hopes to raise $12,000 to go back to the studio where they recorded the first 3 songs of their debut album, using the Sound City Neve 8028 analog mixing console, previously graced by the likes of Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fleetwood Mac, Paul McCartney and of course, the Foo Fighters. Incentives range from digital MP3 downloads, to personalized thank you videos, and fans can even pledge to receive executive producer credits on the album.

Radio Black was formed in early 2014. Lead singer/guitarist TJ Courtney fused his previous solo project with a melodic mixture of grunge and 90s inspired alternative rock. Bringing in drummer Derek Geldhill, founding member of Smile Empty Soul, and bassist Dan Kremer, a seasoned touring musician, the ensemble makes for a powerhouse trio.
