THE DOLLYROTS GO INDEPENDENT – SURPASS ALBUM FUNDRAISING GOAL THROUGH FAN PLEDGES

The Dollyrots have gone independent. Planning to release their next album without the support of a record label for the first time in 8 years, the Los Angeles trio launched a month-long Kickstarter project on the eve of September 12, 2011 with the intention of raising $7,500 towards the production and release of their fourth album. In less than 24 hours, the band surpassed their goal through the astounding pledges and support of fans worldwide. The total continues to climb with 23 days remaining.

With recording days locked and producer John Fields on board (Jimmy Eat World, Pink, Andrew W.K.), The Dollyrots plan to record within the next few weeks. Pledge rewards range from personalized posters and exclusive fan t-shirts to precious band paraphernalia, unique “Goodie Packages”, and even a day in the studio with the band. This album, their fourth full length, promises to have the urgency and spunk of their previous releases while showing the growth of a group that’s toured for almost a decade with hundreds of rock shows under their belts.

“To be honest, we were worried about going independent,” says singer/bassist Kelly Ogden, “but this has shown us that people are willing to support something they believe in, and all our touring and personal fan interaction over the years has meant something to them. Without that direct connection I don’t think this would have worked. We’re extremely grateful and plan on making this our most amazing album yet because of and for our fans.”

After a decade of recording and non-stop touring, The Dollyrots has earned a license for change, with three full length records under their belt’s, the first was in 2004, Eat My Heart Out (Lookout), 2007 Because I’m Awesome (Blackheart), and 2010 A Little Messed Up (Blackheart) and two self released EP’s in 2011, The Dollyrots vs Bowling for Soup and Arrested Youth. The band is road ready and excited about the future. Expect the new release to hit the streets in early 2012.
