Based out of Vancouver, the Canadian Titans Eve present their own raging brand of modern thrash destined to enrapture all heavy music enthusiasts adventurous enough to give a listen.  Their latest magnum opus is entitled Chasing The Devil, a thrilling collection of tunes mastered by none other than Jeff Waters of the mighty Annihilator.  Titans Eve has ventured out of Canada a few times, doing a 5-week tour through the States -as well as finding themselves in Europe supporting none other than the legendary Arch Enemy!  Here is an interview Highwire Daze conducted with Titans Eve to find out more about this band ready to break it on out in an epic way!  Read on…

Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Titans Eve, and how long the band has been together.
My name is Casey Ory and I drum in Vancouver BC based metal band, Titans Eve. The band was formed in the summer of 2008 and went live in early 2009, has toured two continents and played well over 200 shows in that time.

Where is the band based out of and what is your local music scene like there?
Titans Eve is based out of Vancouver BC, Canada. The music scene here is quite vibrant. We are lucky to have so many talented bands in all styles here, and more places to play here now than ever in the 10 years that I have lived here. The scene is also strong in the sense of larger tours coming here all the time. a situation which has improved greatly over the last 5years, with some very strong promoters now being here.

Is there any story or concept behind the Chasing The Devil title?
The concept behind the title “Chasing the Devil‘ refers to confronting ones inner devils, whatever form they are and slaying them. About a man lost in life, but knowing needs to change, and taking the steps to do this and ultimately achieving these aims.

Select two songs from Chasing The Devil and what inspired the lyrics.
The Grind” is a song about the everyman, the working man. Doing what you have to, even things you severely dislike, but must in order to survive, and to be able to do what you truly want out of life.
War Path” is about being forced to fight for something you don’t believe in, but finding the strength to do what is right in that situation.

What was it like working with Jeff Waters of Annihilator and how did he become involved with the project?
Working with Jeff was great. We sent him the mixed but un-mastered songs to him to check out and see if he liked, and he loved the material, and agreed to master the album for us. The results speak for themselves we think, very pleased with the result.

titans_eve-chasing_the_devilWho did the cover art for Chasing The Devil and how much input did you have on it?
Bjorn Goobes of Killustrations did all of the art for the album. The cover shows a man on the road into his mind, all the hazards on the path inward, but with a mission in mind to confront the dark aspects of his character and tame them and change for the better. We exchanged ideas with Bjorn, but final say was with the band. Bjorn is just so talented that he pretty much nails things the first time when working with us. He also did the art for 2012’s “Life Apocalypse” album, so we have developed a good chemistry.

What is the very best and worst part about having two brothers in the same band?
Having two brothers in the band enhances the bands cohesion and vision I find. They do not fight as much as they used to haha, but brothers can get away with more and not get as bothered by things as they are family.

What could one expect from a live Titans Eve show in 2015?
Seeing a Titans Eve show in 2015 one can expect a hi-energy show, crowd interaction and music played well by four guys that love what they do, mean what they say and leave it all on the stage. A hard hitting show, from a hard working band that loves to play.

Has Titans Eve ever played here in the States or plan to do so in future days?
We toured the US for 5 weeks in 2011, and had a blast. We hope to return in the coming months, with a west coast tour being most likely at this time.

What was the experience like touring with Arch Enemy across Europe and were they cool to hang out with?
Touring with Arch Enemy was an incredible experience. They were very good to us, and was awesome and good for us to lay in front of their fans every night, and therefore also make many of them also Titans Eve fans. They were very nice and chill to hang with, genuine good people.

If Titans Eve could open for any band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
If we could open up for any big band that we haven’t played with yet, it would be Judas Priest. We are all huge fans, and they are the single biggest influence for us as far as other metal bands go. Living legends.

What is your favorite beer of choice and why?
I am a fan of many beers, craft and major brews, but my old standby which is always readily available is Becks. Strong flavored, crisp and so good having an ice cold bottle on a hot day. having one now as I type this in fact, haha.

What’s up next for Titans Eve?
Up next for us is a western Canadian tour in September, hopefully shooting a video and US west coast tour in the fall/winter. good to be back on the road.

Any final words of wisdom?
I just want to thank you Ken and Highwire Daze for talking to me about all things Titans Eve, and that we look forward to seeing all our American brothers and sister on our soon!
