Colossus Release Artwork, Tracklist for New Album

badlands1Colossus “Badlands” Set To Release Sept 16

When they released their debut album critics said: “If Time & Eternal is just the beginning, we could be looking at a long career for Colossus.” Now Colossus is building on that foundation with their sophomore album “Badlands”, out September 16. “Badlands” combines the ambition and spirit of the band’s debut with their progressive hardcore aesthetic and an ambience relatively new to their sound.

Badlands”, a term for dry terrain that has been stripped bare by wind and water, is an album full of energetic anthems designed to identify with the struggles of the human condition; namely loneliness, and the feelings of isolation that can be so difficult to navigate. The title also pays homage to Colossus’ home state of South Dakota and its vast badlands formations where the harsh erosion and desolation of the ground can often give way to a spectacular color display. The irony of the beauty found in the treacherous terrain isn’t lost on Colossus as the theme of finding encouragement in tragedy is one that is at the forefront of “Badlands”.

hazescene1July 24, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA – Oakland based indie rock band The American Scene has announced today that they will be releasing their second studio album, Haze, on September 9th via Pure Noise Records. In anticipation for the upcoming release, the band has launched a pre-order for the record and released a new video for their song “Royal Blue,” both of which can be accessed at Additionally, the band has also debuted a new site for exclusive content, future songs and video releases and more.

It’s no secret that the Bay Area has long been an inspiring hub of creativity and a hotbed for unique and prolific musical acts. From Oakland to San Francisco, the cities have produced some of rock’s most influential acts like Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, Green Day and Metallica and the area’s rich musical history has helped pave the way for its successful Outside Lands Festival and rising local bands like Young Prisms, Ty Segall and Tune-Yards. Every so often the Bay Area produces an inspiring new band or artist that will make waves in the U.S. rock scene and alter the current musical landscape. Enter The American Scene.

Formed in 2009, The American Scene got their start writing and performing shows in their native city of Oakland. Comprised of two identical twin brothers, Matt (vocals/bass) and Charles Vincent (drums) along with Chris Purtill (guitar) and Jeff Wright (guitar/vocals), the band released an EP, By Way of Introduction, in 2010 introducing the indie-alternative scene to their unique style of jangly indie rock riffs and inimitably mesmerizing vocals.

By 2012, the band had signed with local Bay Area indie, Pure Noise Records, and released their debut full-length record, Safe For Now. The release received top marks from local and national music critics and helped establish the band as one of the Bay Area’s best rising indie rock bands. Following the release the band spent the next few years playing shows with the likes of The Story So Far, Man Overboard, Handguns, Daybreaker among other, and amassing a hardcore following of fans along the way.

Fast forward to July of 2014 and The American Scene has announced the release of their highly anticipated follow up album, Haze, which was produced by Sam Pura (The Story So Far, Polar Bear Club, Self Defense Family) at The Panda Studios in Fremont, CA. After several releases and years on the road the band has settled in, found their groove and ready to explore their sound with a refined sense of experience and focused songwriting.

“This record came together very naturally,” explains Wright. “Going into it, we were much more conscious of the sound we wanted and what we wanted to portray with the songs. A great deal has changed about our lives since Safe For Now and we think Haze clearly reflects that in a concise and brilliantly framed light. We’ve grown with this record, just as we had with the last and we’re very excited to see what it is that we can accomplish next.”

Haze features ten beautifully written indie-rock songs, including the newly released track “Royal Blue.” The record is scheduled for release on September 9th and can be pre-ordered now at Catch the band at select dates with Balance and Composure in August.

Haze Tracklist:
1. Haze
2. Royal Blue
3. Nails of Love

RAIN CITY ROCKERS Will Release MAYDAY September 16

Rookie Andrew Conroy Surrounds Himself with Members Of Sum 41, Goldfinger, Die Mannequin, Gob

Andrew Conroy’s path to stardom doesn’t begin with his band, RAIN CITY ROCKERS’ September 16, 2014 release of their debut album MAYDAY on Flashlight Music Group. In fact, the album itself is nothing more than the tip of Conroy’s musical iceberg.

The story of how Conroy got to his release date is one of incredible faith, charm and unquestionable talent. With a virtually empty resume of industry experience, Conroy used a collection of incredibly well-written, power-pop songs as his bargaining chip to entice and position himself as the frontman of Rain City Rockers, a seasoned band featuring members Tom Thacker (Sum 41, Gob), Anthony Bleed (Die Mannequin) and Darrin Pfeiffer (Goldfinger). Conroy introduced his band to the world through an exclusive interview with Substream Music Press (LINK) and before revealing the band’s first single, “Saint Babe” on New Noise Magazine’s website (LINK).

Album-Cover_RCR-ArtworkConroy’s path to Mayday began years ago. He became obsessed with a desire to create a raw and visceral album with limited processing and studio production. “I kinda got the idea a few years ago when I was in San Francisco,” Conroy explains. “I was going vinyl shopping and looking through all the record I had purchased, some Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, and the thing I really liked about those records is the fact that they were recorded live off the floor with no click tracks — with great musicians.” Attempting to bridge the gap between the 60s and 70s and the 21st century, Conroy took that concept to heart, gathering the band to record Mayday… in one day. Each track, from the power-pop influenced, drum and guitar heavy “Mindful Madness” and “Saint Babe” to the pop-ballad “On My Own” highlight the sincere approach to capturing the music. Every exaggerated drum solo and hyper-aggressively guitar riff stands bold and proud, presented as it. “The entire album was recorded live off the floor,” Conroy reveals. “I wanted to capture that feel with a modern sound. You may even hear some of our little mistakes – but I love the energy behind it. To me, the energy and feel is more important than making sure every note is perfectly in tune, or every drum hit is perfectly on time.”

Mayday is the result of that process. Conroy’s belief in his concept and the band’s faith in Conroy’s raw talents shine through in the energy and emotion found on the album. On September 16, 2014, with the release of Mayday, Rain City Rockers will supply that certainty to the world.

SWEDEN – Greek/Swedish melodic death metal band, Nightrage, has signed a record/publishing deal with Swedish music company, Despotz. The band’s sixth studio album will surface in February 2015 with a new video/single to be unleashed this fall.

We would like to take this opportunity to now officially introduce Ronnie Nyman as our ‘new’ vocalist.”

AV Club Premieres New Video for “Your Head / Your Heart”

Connecticut rockers Hostage Calm shared the video for their new single “Your Head / Your Heart” on AV Club today. The Max Moore directed film visually plays on the classic pop elements that Hostage Calm blend with rock, punk and new wave. The track is off their up-coming full-length Die On Stage, arriving via Run For Cover Records on September 16th, 2014 (album art and tracklist below).

Watch the Video for “Your Head / Your Heart”

de9d035f-9102-4e5a-bbae-d3e699767c0dIn 2010, Hostage Calm funneled their heroes’ protest energy on their self-titled debut, and then found hope in political uncertainty on 2012’s critically acclaimed Please Remain Calm. This time around, Die On Stage celebrates the post-millennial fatalism in today’s youth culture, creating a message seldom found in pop-punk. The politically charged band continues to offer a genuine view of American culture through critical eyes.

The band entered Pennsylvania’s Studio 4 to produce their fourth full-length with Will Yip (Balance and Composure, Title Fight), as well as including long-time friend Vinnie Caruana (I Am the Avalanche, The Movielife) on the track “Raised”. The record will be out on the rapidly growing Run For Cover Records (Tigers Jaw, Modern Baseball, Basement, Pity Sex), which is run by Hostage Calm guitarist Tom Chiari.

Throughout Die On Stage, Hostage Calm expands on their own identity, adding Glockenspiel, pianos, organs and bells into their arrangements. The record captures a classic sound that Hostage Calm has developed into a progressive and original style.

Die On Stage Track Listing:
01) When You Know
02) A Thousand Miles Away From here
03) Love Against!
04) Someone Else
05) Fallen Angel
06) Your Head / Your Heart
07) Raised
08) 12/31
09) Darling You
10) Past Ideas Of The Future

Hostage Calm confront the darker realities of a modern America as a means of survival. In 2010, the critically acclaimed Connecticut band funneled their heroes’ protest energy into an optimistic hybrid of punk, pop and new wave, only to see rising hopes filtered out through the uncertainty of the Great Recession on 2012’s bruised Heartland rocker Please Remain Calm. Die on Stage celebrates the subsequent post-millennial fatalism permeating today’s youth culture with timeless grandeur. It’s not a political statement as so much it is an honest portrait of growing up in America, embracing all that is fleeting while clutching what semblance of decaying dreams remain for a generation future endeavored.

The band entered Pennsylvania’s Studio 4 space to produce their fourth full-length alongside the venerable Will Yip (Balance and Composure, Title Fight), choosing the recording auteur for his careful ear in magnifying strengths for a widescreen audience. Hostage Calm’s traditional foundation as a five-piece transcends past influences and furthers their own identity with Glockenspiel, pianos, organs and bells conjoined into their arrangements, creating a big, enchanting rock album stacked with infectious new classics.

At Die On Stage’s core are Hostage Calm’s endlessly evolving creativity placated against a fully engulfed existential crisis .The record is fighting for its life and for the love that has survived the emotional wreckage with lead singer Chris Martin’s romantic punk poetry battling dark, unforeseen interpersonal conflict and a loss of identity. This is a public diary of songs that both celebrates and vilifies those moments, and those feelings of emotional turmoil toppled onto Hostage Calm’s aim to create a new rock standard are what dig out a legacy.

“I’ve said before that ‘more than being remembered, I’d rather be worth remembering.’ I think this album strives to find that which is worth our precious memory,” says Martin. “It is in fact a memorial, a monument to the tumult and disenfranchisement that has become the centerpiece of American childhood. Not to spite it, or preach to it, but to embrace the sheer enormity of it for the sake of our own reveling.

ts3b_WebAdmat_1About Invent, Animate:
“With so much metalcore out these days, the best thing to do is be fresh. Invent, Animate does this,” says music critic Mike Bohn who reviewed the band’s first EP Waves. “They do a lot more than other bands out there and they do it well.”

Creating an idea and bringing it to life is what inspired the progressive metalcore band Invent, Animate to pursue their passion for spreading positive messages through their music. The group was formed on the cloudy Christmas Eve of 2011 in a small town east of Houston called Port Neches, Texas. Ben English (vocals), Logan Forrest (guitar), Keaton Goldwire (guitar), Caleb Sherraden (bass), and Trey Celaya (drums) came together through their mutual love of bands like Deftones, Underoath, and Norma Jean. They are heavily influenced by what these bands have to say and the way they carry themselves as musicians.

Invent, Animate are a highly energetic band that puts an unsullied look on the metalcore market. Their work is multi-dimensional and shows their ability to be very dynamic. Never fearful to be chaotic and crazy one minute, but then decelerate and bring a softer, more beautiful aspect the next. “We’re not afraid to slow it down, experiment with different vocal styles, and maybe even sing in a few parts,” says vocalist Ben English. In addition to performing at the South By So What?! festival, the group has shared the stages with Oh, Sleeper, Of Mice & Men, and Architects.

Invent, Animate recently signed with Tragic Hero Records and have plans to release their debut full-length Everchanger on 8/26/14. “It’s still so surreal to me,” says English. “Growing up, some of my favorite bands were a part of Tragic Hero, and I’m super excited to be a part of the family. The record that we’ve been pouring ourselves into for months is really going to be unlike anything we’ve done before. We’re branching out and doing things that we’ve never done, and the outcome is really sounding incredible and we’re super excited for everyone to hear it.”
