Demo by Treason To Witness (Self-released)
Treason To Witness is a young unsigned band from Orlando, Florida who demonstrates a good deal of ambition and artistry within their extreme metal compositions. Taking cues from collectives such as Between The Buried And Me and Born Of Osiris, Treason To Witness are innovative enough to bring their own ideas to the table, resulting in some pretty epic tunage. The four songs featuring on their Demo run 27 minutes in length, but there is not a dull moment to be found in their fine, intricate recordings. Just the sheer dynamics along make for a pretty compelling musical adventure.
The Chaos Theory is a good introduction for Treason To Witness, demonstrating each member at the height of their creative prowess. On the longer tracks, things really get interesting – Silent Life shows a persuasive mixture of the subtle with the extreme and is a definitive standout. And then there is the 9-plus minute opus Defining Self Empowerment, where the entire band really lets loose, coming up with riffs and melodies that border on mesmerizing. And finally Pygmalion starts out with a soothing stretch of sound at the beginning – and then the brutality finally kicks into high gear making for a remarkable grand finale. What this band has come up with on their four-song demo is pretty amazing. A top-notch producer could guide them towards even greater heights.
The impressive Treason To Witness lineup consists of Michael Myerson on vocals and keys, Jeff Bobbin in guitar and vocals, Sean Hussey on bass, and Rodrigo Garcia Salas on drums. If you are into well-played progressive metal, be sure to check into what this resourceful band has to offer.
