Former Blood & Ink Records’ band Thin Ice regroups and prepares for debut e.p. “Evangel” on new label
(Fort Wayne, IN) – From the depths of Texas rises Unchained; a four piece metallic hardcore band from San Antonio. In regards to sound: relentless and unrestrained; drawing influences from the likes of Miseration, Living Sacrifice, and Advent. In regards to message: an earnest yet unapologetic proclamation of the glorious evangel: Christ and Him crucified.
Unchained is the next permutation of four friends who have toured across the U.S. since 2009, first with Goldmill and then with Thin Ice (Blood & Ink Records). These veterans are not new to the scene, having toured between the Atlantic and the Pacific at different times with the likes of Gideon, Murder Death Kill, Dead Icons, Messengers, and more. What has nearly five years of intermittent touring gotten them? Spots on several renowned American music festivals — Stand Together, Cornerstone and Sonshine among them.
Unchained’s name may be easily misunderstood, mistaken for banal adages proclaiming human liberation. Their name might seem a standard moniker for the simple hardcore masses, however it is much more connected with their message—their mission—than meets the eye. Rather than call for seeking emancipation from temporal bonds, Unchained gathers their name, message, and mission from The Apostle Paul, as written in one of his last letters addressed to Timothy. Paul says, “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” (2 Timothy 2:8-9 NIV). Though we remain in chains one thing remains: Evangel Unchained.
Unchained is now putting the finishing touches on their first offering, “Evangel“.
Concerning their new label and upcoming release, vocalist Bruce Gonzales, Jr. states, “We are excited to be partnering with Rottweiler Records to put out our new EP “Evangel“. We have worked on it slowly but surely as Thin Ice was slowly being put to rest and we are stoked about sharing this new chapter in our musical journey with the rest of the world through a worthy outlet.”
CLG Distribution president David C. Coleman adds, “Rottweiler Records has been a rising force in the metal and punk scenes for several years now. With a growing roster of highly talented artists, we believe the addition of Unchained will bolster the impressive roster and bring another great band to the forefront of the Christian metal scene.”
Watch for Unchained’s blistering debut e.p. “Evangel” releasing late Summer 2014
