NEW MEDICINE

newmedicine1Introduce yourself: what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
My name is Jake Scherer I’m the lead singer of the band New Medicine, we are from Minneapolis, Minnesota but are now based out of Nashville, Tennessee.

What are you looking forward to the most about Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
It’s always great to do these big traveling festivals, it’s like rock n roll summer camp. We did the first Uproar Festival tour so we have lots of friends on the tour and the line up this year is awesome!

What could one expect from your live show at the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
We are playing a short balls to the walls set, it will be non-stop rock the whole time.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our record just came out its called “Breaking the Model“. It’s our mission statement for the band and the music. We are not interested in fitting a formula or mold, we pride ourselves on being unique and different than the pack.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and talk about what inspired the lyrics.
Breaking the Model is the title track and we will be playing it in our set.  It’s about not fitting any formula and trying to be ahead of the curve. We will also be playing our new single called “One Too Many” which is about excessiveness. It’s about knowing where the line is, and willingly crossing it.  It’s a fun one.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road or at a show?
So many that it’s hard to name just one, but I have to say, our old bass player signed a girl’s boobs one night on the road. When we came back through that town a few months later, she had his signature tattooed on her. Ironically he’s not in the band anymore, but I’m sure that tattoo hasn’t faded yet! Lol

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Nirvana just because they are my favorite band ever, I never got to see them play and Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl are two of my favorite musicians of all time!

Any final words of wisdom for Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival attendees this year?
Come on out early! The second stage is gonna be a riot this year, tons of great bands!

Arron back up vox and bass.
Sean drums n look like Jesus.
Corey back vox n guitar we are based out of Brantford Ont Canada, eh!

What are you looking forward to the most about Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
Connecting with the people. Music is sexual dance that can only be achieved between two energies. Music is made by one energy and appreciated through another. So we most amp’ to play and connect with people.

If you are already on the tour, how have the shows been going so far and what have been some of the highlights?
The shows have been Stella, really epic. The highlight is Cincinnati so far. Ohio loves rock n roll. The crowds have been amazing and really responsive.

What could one expect from your live show at the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
High energy rock n roll.
Some swearing, sweat and beer. A good ol fashioned rock n roll party.

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP?
We actually have two out right now. One we recorded in Canada and the other we did in Hollywood. U can actually grab the Hollywood one “Fractal” here for free for a limited time www.ErnieBall.com/sor

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and talk about what inspired the lyrics.
Born/Time: These songs have been in the set from the start and are huge fan favourites. Born is about loving your life to the Max and saying fuk it where Time is about being vulnerable and just loving who u are around. Two majorly different songs but written, sung and performed with emotion.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road or at a show?
Na man things been smooth sailing.

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles. Enough said lol

Any final words of wisdom for Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival attendees this year?
Have fun, stay safe and above all Rock n Roll.

THESE RAVEN SKIES

thesravenskies2Introduce yourself: what you do in the band, and where you are based out of?
Hi, I’m Alex Whitcombe, the guitarist for These Raven Skies. We’re based out of Calgary, Canada

What are you looking forward to the most about Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
We’re most looking forward to connecting with a lot of great people – fans and bands – on this year’s UPROAR tour. We’re also pretty excited to see places in the USA that we’ve never been to!

What could one expect from your live show at the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival?
Our UPROAR set is pretty intense but fans can still expect the classic rock meets modern rock cross over that we’re known for. The groove is still in the mix, but we’re focusing on the harder side of our sound for this one!

What is the name of your latest or upcoming CD or EP and what inspired the title?
Our latest album, is our debut called These Raven Skies (self-titled). The imagery behind the band name was pretty inspirational to us and we believe that the name conveys enough of a message that we could leave the disc self-titled.

Select two songs you may be playing in your set and talk about what inspired the lyrics.
No Need to Worry”, which is our current radio single, will be featured in our set. It’s a pretty typical “night at the bar with your friends” kind of song and the lyrics were inspired by a real life incident that occurred at one of our shows in Calgary. The first track on our album, “Magick Waters” will also be in our live set.

Any strange or unusual happenings in the past while out on the road or at a show?
We’ve had MANY strange and unusual happenings in the past, especially when touring or during our recording sessions in Australia – most of which are probably unfit to print 🙂

Trevor managed to swim across a channel of water in Australia, which equates to a 20 minute swim. The rest of the band decided to take a convenient bridge across the water to eat breakfast while Trev went along with his morning swim…Local fishermen were ASTONISHED that he managed to survive the swim as the waters are apparently “teeming” with sharks, stingrays and jellyfish! Fortunately for all involved, a pod of dolphins were cruising the shallows and probably helped avert danger. While swimming, Trevor managed to tear his pants on some extremely sharp rocks, so he naturally decided wisely against swimming back “home” across the channel. We opted to do the Canadian thing and spend the day drinking pints in the local pub!

If you could open up for any band, either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Now that they’ve reunited, we’d love to open for or tour with The Tea Party! Their lead singer / guitarist is our friend and producer, so we’re sure it would be a good time for all. If Led Zeppelin were to tour, we’d love to play with them as well.

Any final words of wisdom for Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival attendees this year?
Have fun and stay tuned for These Raven Skies, coming to a city near you! We hope to see you soon.
