On Saturday, March 26th, Virginia’s emotive, epic metal band WHILE HEAVEN WEPT will be headlining a benefit concert at Volume 11 Tavern in Raleigh, North Carolina for Tony “Dio” Leonardo, a local metal promoter who recently underwent a nephrectomy.
WHILE HEAVEN WEPT guitarist & founding member Tom Phillips shares the following: “Tony’s family. He works at a music store and organizes lots of metal fests in the area, so he’s a good friend to lots of bands. All of us know he’s been a lifelong Dio fan and because of this, we gave him the nickname ‘Dio’… and it’s all meant with the deepest of respect. Doctors found a lesion on his kidney, which had to get removed, so we’re doing the benefit to help offset his medical expenses.”
Other bands performing include Twisted Tower Dire, Widow, Hellrazor, and Dark Design.
The benefit show is All Ages. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the entrance fee is $7.
WHILE HEAVEN WEPT signed with Nuclear Blast Records in November, 2010. Fear Of Infinity will be their new label debut and is the follow-up studio album to 2009’s Vast Oceans Lachrymose. They’re confirmed to perform on the center stage at the ProgPowerUSA XII festival on Saturday, September 17th in Atlanta, Georgia. View the festival line-up here.
