DEBUT EP REACHES SALES OF OVER 20,000 on i-TUNES! – SONG “WAKE THE DEAD” GUEST STARRING DANNY WORSNOP OF ASKING ALEXANDRIA!
The York UK based group With One Last Breath has just released a new two song single Forgive Never Forget and Hell We Create. Though the band has never stepped foot on U.S. soil and have only been together for two years, their self titled digital EP released in 2010 has sold over 20,000 copies (90% of it from U.S. listeners).
Of course some of the initial buzz was due to hometown friend Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria appearance on the song, Wake The Dead. On working with the Asking Alexandria frontman, Sam (guitar/clean vocals) explains “When we were working on the EP I was doing all of the vocals including the screaming and we needed to get some copies out. I had lost my voice on tour so Danny being a good friend (the band includes former members of Asking Alexandria) came in and actually recorded the screaming for the entire record.” Once Sam regained his voice he went in and put his vocals to the tracks but the band was unable to let go of Danny’s performance on Wake The Dead.
Influenced by the American hardcore scene and more melodic metal With One Last Breath build a foundation of churning rhythms and growling vocals then inject monumental guitar solos and soaring melodies to create something that is both brutal and glistening. “We really want to make something different to what everyone else is doing, in the UK we really stand out” says Sam.
Hard working and in demand the band has played over 150 shows through the UK in 2010 alone. They appeared alongside such artists asAnnotations of an Autopsy, Asking Alexandria, Gallows, The Acacia Strain, Evergreen Terrace, Glamour of the Kill, Bury Tomorrow, Edguy and both the Summer and Christmas GHOSTFEST’s in Leeds.
Now the band has aimed a two song single for 2011 at the U.S. which is decidedly heavier. Sam comments “In the past we have leaned towards the mainstream side of metal but now that we have Spencer (screaming vocals) onboard everyone’s preference is to take a heavier approach. We used to write lyrics about girlfriends and past experiences but it felt a little self indulgent, even cringe worthy. Now we focus on sick ideas and horror film themes.”
The single is now up at iTunes and expect news of new shows shortly.
