Speed Of Light now on tour with Bad Religion
Brew Ha Ha Productions has announced the music set times and some lineup additions for the third annual Punk In The Park on November 4 & 5 at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County, CA. SoCal punk legends Pennywise and Descendents lead the Punk In The Park music lineup, which features nearly 40 bands on three stages, including Circle Jerks, Goldfinger, GBH, The Suicide Machines, The Lawrence Arms, Drain, The Casualties, Scowl, and more. Festival producers also recently announced lineup additions including UK punk pioneers Buzzcocks.
Also on the bill straight from their tour opening for Bad Religion are LA’s very own Speed Of Light, performing Sunday on the Monster Energy Stage early on in the day. Expect an explosive set of raging tunes from these three massively talented siblings! Highwire Daze caught up with Speed Of Light while on their trek with Bad Religion to find out more about the band and what to expect from their performance at Punk In The Park. Read on…
Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Speed Of Light, and how long the band has been together.
Riley, vocals and bass. Cameron, guitar and backup vocals. Tyler, drums and backup vocals. We’re a family so we’ve been together awhile.
Where is the band based out of and what is your local music scene like there?
We’re from Santa Monica. There’s no scene there so we have to go to other parts of LA and Orange County to play.
What are you looking forward to the most about Punk In The Park?
We’re looking forward to all the other cool bands and that punk crowd and spirit.
What could one expect from your Punk In The Park show?
Our set’s pretty loud and visceral…
What was the experience like performing at the Punk Rock Bowling event earlier this year?
Punk Rock Bowling was the second-best thing that happened to us this year. The fans are so cool.
If Speed Of Light could open for any iconic punk rock band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Queens of the Stone Age. They’re awesome.
Best and not so best part about having three siblings in the same band?
Best part: we read each other’s minds. Worst: there’s no worst. We like each other and we have each other’s backs.
What’s up next for Speed Of Light?
We’re on a 22 show North American tour with Bad Religion. Definitely the best experience we’ve ever had as a band. And not for the reasons you would expect. Bad Religion and their crew are a family and they invited our family to their party and taught us a lot over these last 5 weeks.
Any final words of wisdom?
Our advice? Take that first step forward and get on the path as soon as you can. You never know where it will take you.
