Kitten Kay Sera: Pinktastic Plastixx, Girlactic, and A Life In Pink
Kitten Kay Sera is a captivating artist on the Los Angeles scene who loves the color of pink so much that she married it! And within this epic world in pink, Kitten Kay Sera has created her band Pinktastic Plastixx – and has established a festival of talent entitled Girlactic! An all-girl extravaganza of local and national acts, Girlactic Music Fest will take place at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go on August 27th – and at press time, a special guest appearance by the legendary Cherie Currie of The Runaways infamy has been announced! Highwire Daze recently interviewed the dynamic Kitten Kay Sera to discuss the upcoming Girlactic Music Fest as well as her grand and glorious life in pink! Read on…
Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Pinktastic Plastixx, and how long the band has been togeth
Hi! My name is Kitten Kay Sera and I am the singer and founder of the all girl band Pinktastic Plastixx!
I put the band together on August 15, 2022 in an audition at AMP Rehearsals Studios. Our 3-year bandiversary is just around the corner. We have a few exciting transitions coming up …some of the faces may change but the name remains the same. So, make sure you follow us @pinktasticplasixx on Instagram for up to the minute updates!
What do you think of our local Los Angeles music scene when it comes to women in rock?
I love it! I think all in all we have gained a great following & Los Angeles is super supportive. We SO appreciate that.
However, I strategically put the band in events and shows that already had a “built in audience” to gain fans and have all eyes on us.
For example, opening for major acts including The Motels, When In Rome, English Beat, Pretty Boy Floyd, Plush, and Missing Persons – all on different dates and occasions. I think being at the right venue and not overplaying also creates an excitement for your fans. I like to make all of our shows an EVENT. That means giving out cool & fun promo items,
Having a pink food truck out front with a pink personalized menu. whatever it takes. I think we go all out and it shows. People still write us messages and mention our past shows and how memorable they were.

An Out of this World experience! We are going with a space theme and will have 7 kick ass all girl bands performing back-to-back at the Whisky A Go Go. I chose the Whisky this year because I feel at home there and the sound and lighting team are beyond amazing! The fest is 100% all girl bands. When women only make up only 20% of music festival stages we wanted to change the playing field. Our awesome line up is
6:30 Razor Burn
7:15 PM Go Scarlet
8:00 PM Anti Groupies
8:45 PM Madam Bombs
9:30 PM Doll Riot
10:15 PM Rebel Queens (hailing from Minnesota!)
11 PM Pinktastic Plastixx
We’ll also have atmosphere models in cyber space costumes- I already cast the Girlactic Girls! My vision is bigger that my budget haha! I am just a one woman show trying to pull this off.
-and with that being said:
Girlactic Music Fest is open to more Sponsors and what we guarantee is your logo on the step and repeat banners and your logo on all of our T-Shirts. We have Tagima Guitars and Thread Press as Sponsors and are thrilled with their support & partnership!
You may reach me through my bands Instagram @pinktasticplastixx or @kittenkaysera if you are interested and, of course, you will be supporting women in music.
If all goes well -we will have this event annually every Summer at different SoCal locations. I would love to have it outdoors next year. Please come out and support to help make this dream a yearly event! I have a ton of all girl bands ready and waiting in the wings… that I unfortunately couldn’t fit in this year.

Okay PINK IS PUNK is definitely on the list and when I say:
“Pink is Punk
just look how low you sunk
I’m the O.G.
Stop copying me“
It’s basically referring to the plagiarism that I have experienced and how I’ve had to protect my name, my brand AND my title, which were ALL stolen at different times in my career.
For example: The Pink Lady of Hollywood was stolen until I sent a cease and desist. The funny thing is she didn’t even live in Hollywood 💗
When people see someone successful, they like to imitate them and try to ride their coattails but if anything, it just makes them look desperate. And if you’re gonna argue with me and say well, “Imitation is a sincerest form of flattery” they don’t add the last & MOST important part of that quote, which is:
“That mediocrity can pay to greatness.”
Like with my pink microphone that I had designed specifically for me it is a pink blow dryer /hairdryer and I’m the first AND only one that has this microphone.. and because it’s my one-of-a-kind design….if someone decides to rip me off, you’re gonna know it!💗
Clearly I am the OG I’ve been doing all pink since 1980 -ONLY pink no other colors. I’m the longest living Monochromatic.
My lyrics are a lot deeper than they sound however the “Mean Girls” film was sort of the vibe & the concept for the music video – and I took some quotes from the movie .. like when I say “Grool “ That’s great with cool ha!

PINKTASTIC PLASTIXX- PINK IS PUNK (Kitten Kay Sera).
What was it like opening for the legendary Missing Persons, and were you able to meet and hang out with Dale Bozzio at all?
OH! it was so much fun! I love their music and I did get to hang out with Dale Bozzio backstage! The director of my documentary, Alxis Ratkevich took a candid pic where we are sharing a secret backstage.
If Pinktastic Plastixx could open for any band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
I would say either GREEN DAY or Chappel Roan – both are goals! Green Day is so iconic and I think Chappel Roan’s fans would totally love a bad ass pink all girl band opening. Chappel appreciates the drama in the performance like I do.
What was it like to be on the cover of Vogue magazine and how did that come about?
I randomly heard from the editor of Vogue – she wrote me an email that they were doing a PINK issue and I was their first choice to be featured. Of course I was tickled PINK haha I have always dreamed of being on the cover of VOGUE since I was like 18 years old. Fashion is a big part of my life. I was originally just going to be one or two pages inside the magazine but when they saw the photos they decided to use me as the cover & devoted 8 pages inside with a full fashion spread and story. I almost – well I did CRY! It seriously was a dream come true.

Drew reached out when she saw that I married the color pink and asked if I would be on the show. She was fascinated with my life. I guess I have lived as a monochromatic so long it’s just normal to me now. Drew showed clips from my wedding in Vegas in Elvis Presley’s pink Cadillac and we all laughed at how over the top it was! I love that she appreciates the campiness.
I have adored Drew ever since I saw her in E.T. (which I saw like 11 times in the theatre when it came out!) She made me feel so special.. she really cares about people and it’s real. SHE is real. I could totally see us being friends if I lived in New York. I am a big dork, and I think Drew feels like she is too. I love her humor and wit. I could go on and on. I can laugh at myself and so can Drew…humor is what saves us. I was on the show during the pandemic otherwise I would have been sitting on that sofa with her. I hope I will be invited back haha
What has it been like to participate in the Pride parade?
It is a BLAST and pure joy! It’s always a honor to be included because they just don’t let anyone in! You have to be an organization or a Politician or a Celebrity. So, I am always proud to be a part of a community that I truly support.
I started out singing in gay clubs in Houston Texas! They gave me my first big break.. the LGBTQ community IS my people. I was in both the Los Angeles and the West Hollywood Parades for 3 years in a row. Next year I want to perform. That’s the goal. 2026 is going to be major.
How long have you had the association with the color pink and what was the world like before the color pink entered your life?
I began my pink journey in the year 1980 – it was the color I chose to represent for the rest of my life. I got rid of all the other colors that I owned and devoted my life to PINK. I think I’m a pinkaholic ha! The world was so drab & dull before I discovered the color. Pink really changed my life. I found out who I was through the color and created a Persona that others can only imitate. I am officially The Pinkest Person In The World and in The Ripley’s Believe it or Not!

What would you like someone to remember the most after encountering the world of Pinktastic Plastixx for the first time?
the pink experience. That we rocked out and left a good taste in their mouth.
What advice would you give someone looking to pursue their passion in music?
Do it now. Life is too short.
It doesn’t even matter if you succeed or fail …what matters most is if you are having fun.
Any final words of wisdom?
Dreams Don’t Expire. I would have never gone for my dream if I believed & listened to what others said to me.
never let anyone dictate what you can and cannot do. NO, you are not too ____old______.. you are just right.
fill in the blank
