The Ontario Sessions – EP Teaser by Laurin Hunter (Self-released)

Laurin Hunter, an independent singer-songwriter based in the San Francisco Bay Area, continues to weave together strands of folk, Americana, rock, and pop into a sound that’s both emotionally resonant and musically rich. His previous album Face Up showcased an artist on the brink of a breakthrough — and now, with The Ontario Sessions – EP Teaser, Laurin opens the door to the next compelling chapter in his artistic journey.

The teaser features two tracks, each offering a glimpse into Laurin’s evolving voice and vision. The original song, Seasons of Silence, opens the EP with raw conviction and lyrical depth. It’s a stirring piece that pulses with vulnerability and strength — the kind of song that makes you want to dive headfirst into his entire discography (which I fully intend to do once this review is done).

The second track is a beautifully rendered cover of Neil Young’s Don’t Let It Bring You Down. Laurin’s interpretation honors the original while infusing it with his own soulful sensibility, revealing one of his timeless influences and showcasing his ability to reimagine classics with grace and authenticity.

With a voice that spans four octaves and a passion that radiates through every note, Laurin Hunter proves once again that he’s a troubadour worth watching. The forthcoming full-length album — inspired by his time in Algonquin National Park and shaped by the recent loss of his father — promises to be a deeply personal and cathartic work. It will also feature a cover of a Joni Mitchell song, further anchoring Laurin’s reverence for iconic songwriting.

If this teaser is any indication, 2026 is poised to be a breakout year for Laurin Hunter and the heartfelt reveries he continues to share with the world.
