Charlotte La Rue of Mori’s Memento and Rocket Queen: The NAMM Show 2025 Interviews
Charlotte La Rue is involved with two very amazing bands within the Los Angeles music scene. Mori’s Memento is modern rock filled with imagination and intrigue – imagine if Dokken and Ice Nine Kills had a love spawn, and that is where you would Mori’s Memento raging in the shadows. Charlotte also fronts the almighty Rocket Queen – A Tribute to Guns n’ Roses – a project has been gaining a ton of momentum in the City of Angels and beyond. Highwire Daze caught up with Charlotte La Rue at The NAMM Show to find out more about current happening with Mori’s Memento, Rocket Queen, and plans for the future. Read on…
We’re here with Charlotte La Rue of Mori’s Memento. What are you looking forward to the most about The NAMM Show this year?
This year, obviously playing Highwire is the reason I’m most excited to be here. I just love seeing everybody. It’s like a big reunion every time I come back – seeing a bunch of musicians – sometimes people I only get to see at NAMM. So that’s my favorite part of it – getting to meet everybody – getting to meet new people – make connections – make new friends.
What’s currently going on with Mori’s Memento?
We’re going to be playing here tomorrow. We’re also going to be playing at The Whisky on February 2nd. We’re super excited about it – it’s our first time playing The Whisky, so we’re super pumped about it. We’re also working on new music right now. We have a completed lineup finally with a bassist and a drummer – everybody. We’re really excited about it.
What’s your current single that you’ve released?
So, the last thing we put out was Throw Me To The Wolves. We have five songs that we actually just went away and recorded the entire EP. Everything’s recorded – we’ve just got to get it mixed and mastered. We’re looking around June for a release date for a full EP. And it’s all new songs, not including the four that we’ve already put out. We’re excited!
And tell me about your other band Rocket Queen.
We’ve been playing all over the place. Right now, we’re actually working on professionally recording some of the covers – because we want something that sets up apart from the other tributes. They all play live. We want that when you go to a show, you can listen back to the recording. We have a lot of really fun stuff coming up this year. We will focus a lot on recording, but I know that we’ll be playing with Fast Times pretty soon on their new residency. We’re going to be playing The Fox Theater in Visalia in April, so we’re super pumped.
What’s it like to be Axl Rose in Rocket Queen?
It’s a challenge. It’s not easy. Considering his range – they say he has one of the most impressive ranges in rock as far as how high and how low he can go – it’s definitely tough but it’s really fun. He’s a fun person to really kind of try to emulate – and I’ve been able to take a lot of what he does and kind of incorporate it into my own stuff as well. So, it’s just helped me all around technique-wise. It’s got its challenges, but it’s been fun.
And then tell me about some of the other projects you’re involved with.
I’m actually kind of working on some solo stuff right now to put out this year. I’m working with a couple friends of mine -my friend Chris who is also in Rocket Queen – my friend Giancarlo Floridia – we’re working on some stuff together. It’s just a way for me to write with some different people – to kind of put stuff out and see what happens with it. So, I’m really excited about that.
