Brian Marquis at Republic of Pie
Brian Marquis, Republic Of Pie, September 11, 2017
Republic Of Pie, located in North Hollywood Arts District, was just the right way of embracing this continental day of remembering 9/11 from being attacked and able to still enjoy our freedom. So being that this performance was acoustic, a nice early evening was to be enjoyed.
This performance was an hour long. Which usually most single artist get to play about 45 minutes. So like with the yummy pies and great Teas, this was a solid treat to get a full set of songs intimately. All in all there were 11 songs performed. Some old favorites like From Boston, I’m Still Chasing You, and Burn The Bridge Swim The River were performed. Breathing In Ghost was also unveiled, as Marquis revealed this to in remembrance of those who lost their lives in 9/11.  These songs are available on Brian’s album Blood And Spirits from Equal Vision Records, which should very well be on your radar. Also there were a couple of covers on tap, which were All Your Favorite Bands (The Dawes) and a great version of Shadow Boxer (Fiona Apple). A recorded version of Shadow Boxer is available from Brian’s EP I Miss The 90’s available from Equal Vision Records.
Brian also reached back into doing some songs from his first EP Snow Damage. The songs from this Ep that Brian did were 84 Rookie Card, Ratt Street and They Used To Call It The Blues. However the new track This Is Heavy was the song that really stood out, showing an artist looking straight ahead into the future.  One other new song Was The Romantic which kind of tells you how Brian is in his own way is a true romantic of sorts. Sorry ladies, he’s all ready taken steadily.
Thanks for a great show this evening. Brian reached out and gave all in attendance hugs and handshakes of appreciation to those of us who filled up Republic Of Pie. So maybe this venue will have Brian perform again soon. But in case you missed this show Brian is heading on tour with Divided Heaven, kicking off on November 2, 2017 at The Silver Lake Lounge. I hope to be there and hope you come and see him too. You will not be disappointed.
