DIVIDED HEAVEN PREMIERE NEW SINGLE “1983” WITH SUBSTREAM
NEW ALBUM COLD WAR DUE OUT 7/20 VIA WIRETAP RECORDS
VINYL AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER ON WIRETAPRECORDS.COM
MAY 30, 2018 – LOS ANGELES, CA – Divided Heaven are premiering their new single “1983” exclusively today via Substream Magazine. Listen HERE. “It serves as an indie-rock meets pop-rock track showcasing that softer, more vulnerable side of Divided Heaven“, Substream notes. “The track shows [Jeff] Berman pleading out ‘say you will / say you will remember me’ as part of the chorus that will ring throughout your head.” “1983” is taken from the band’s upcoming album Cold War, due out on 7/20 via Wiretap Records. The 13-song collection was recorded and produced by Charlie Stavish (Ryan Adams, Jenny Lewis, La Sera) at his studio, The Clock Tower Recorder, in Joshua Tree, California. “Our new record is a new beginning for Divided Heaven,” vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Jeff Berman explains. “It’s a new sound and direction set by songs that are contemplative, heartbreaking and raw.” Vinyl is available for preorder now on www.wiretaprecords.com. Divided Heaven is the brainchild of Jeff Berman – a singer/songwriter who started out in various punk and hardcore bands along the East Coast in the mid ’90s. These include ’77-rockers THE STATIKS, Philadelphia street-punk/Oi band THE BOILS, DC hardcore juggernaut V.P.R., NJ thrashers RITES and Florida hardcore troupe PROTAGONIST.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Berman formed Divided Heaven and released their debut album, A Rival City, in 2011 and its follow-up, Youngblood, in 2014. Following this, Divided Heaven toured America, Europe and Asia, took part in the Vans Warped Tour, and supported everyone from Less Than Jake and Anti-Flag to Sundowner and Jonah Montranga.
Now, the band is back with their third LP, Cold War, slated for release on 7/20. Produced by Charlie Stavish, Cold War displays the band’s softer, more contemplative side. “Cold War is (and was) meant to be different, all around,” says Berman. “It was recorded differently, written differently, and presented differently. It’s less singer-songwriter and more full-band; less a collection of songs and more of a cohesive group of songs. I simply can not waiting for people to hear it and feel it.”
“1983” is the first single from Divided Heaven’s upcoming album Cold War due out on 7/20.
