Whit3 Collr at The Viper Room – Live Review

Whit3 Collr, The Viper Room, West Hollywood, CA., August 14, 2021

Based out of the vast and varied Los Angeles music scene, Whit3 Collr performed at the notorious Viper Room on the Sunset Strip – and they definitely left a lasting impression on the early arrivals. Waiting just outside the stage door because this power trio are all under the age of 18, when security opened the door and let Whit3 Collr take to the stage, the band presented their own thrilling brand of melodic hard rock. Performing memorable originals as well as few superbly imaginative covers, it was clear from the very beginning that Whit3 Collr were winning over the crowd big time!

Whit3 Collr kicked off their set with a raging rendition of the Guns N’ Roses classic It’s So Easy, instantly captivating the audience with their vibrant charisma, and impressive musicianship. 17-year-old Will Sawyer is such a dynamic front man – whether he’s delivering fierce vocals or unleashing vibrant guitar solos, his onstage presentation is absolutely riveting. Bassist JT Sawyer (no relation to Will) may be a little more laid back, but the low end this amazing musician supplies is pretty tight and ferocious. And then there’s Donovan Hess on drums, 16 years of age. and driving it all home with a mighty amount of skilled precision.

The original songs this trio performed were exceedingly memorable, selections such as Endless Hours and 16 Sweet destined to be played all the rock radio airwaves. And towards the end of their set, Whit3 Collr presented a tribute to the late Dusty Hill with a ripping interpretation of the ZZ Top tune La Grange. For all the jaded folk who like to exclaim that Rock Is Dead, I would be more than happy to refer them to a band such as Whit3 Collr, three massively talented young dudes ready and more than able to slam it all into the realm of the next generation and beyond.

Be sure to check out Whit3 Collr opening for Firehouse on August 28th at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go! Arrive early because I believe they are opening the show.  Expect to be hearing a whole lot more from this outstanding trio in the months ahead because these guys are truly inspirational live and not to be missed!
