Hitten at Knucklehead – Live Review

It is extremely rare and super exciting when a European underground band makes it over here to the States for the very first time. Hitten from Spain recently released While Passion Lasts on High Roller Records – the absolutely perfect amalgamation of power metal and melodic rock – or as opening band Saber described – “Dokken on steroids!” And on the first day of their Passion Over The USA Tour, Hitten would find themselves at the trendy Knucklehead club in the heart of Hollywood, bringing the European metal with a dynamic amount of intensity and conviction.

Opening with the thrilling title track from their album While Passion Lasts, Hitten easily captured the attention of all the metalheads in the room. There was even circle pit action taking place within the confines of the intimate Knucklehead. With bands such as Saber and Haunt also on the bill, Hitten was probably the odd band out, but with talent that massive and a heartbeat firmly set in metal, Hitten performed full speed ahead and gained a ton of new fans in the process.  There was even circle pit action taking place within the confines of the intimate Knucklehead.

Songs such as Mr. Know It All and Blood From A Stone were absolutely explosive live – sounding like amped up Sunset Strip anthems that should be boiling over on the worldwide radio airwaves. Another highlight from the set was the rapturous Eyes Never Lie from their Triumph & Tragedy magnum opus.

Alexx Panza is an electrifying front man, presenting the powerhouse vocals with a ton of passion and intrigue. Many will recognize Alexx from his work within the ranks of Jack Starr’s Burning Star as well as his brand-new band Vigilhunter. Also unleashing masterwork performances were Dani M. on guitar, Johnny Lorca on guitar, Willy Medina on drums, and El Serra on bass. Sonic devastation was left in the wake of a Hollywood Friday night, and Hitten would now travel across the USA to spread the metal passion to the masses.
