After their sophmore release ‘Chapters‘ back in 2015, Omaha have quickly established themselves as being one of the most exciting alternative pop rock act’s on the UK scene. Previously honoured with air play on Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and articles in Rock Sound Magazine, they are constantly striving to be known as one of hardest working bands in the country. Bunkering down after tours with UK sensations Leopards and Australian heart throb D At Sea, it’s been a constant endeavour to make the perfect record. With a fresh and polished sound that still retains that raw passion, ‘Young Hearts‘ is not a record to ignore.

Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Omaha, and how long the band has been together.
Jack Voss – Vocals
Freddie Goli – Guitar/Vocals
Mason Clifford – Guitar/Vocals
Brogan Finnigan – Bass
Jake Clark – Drums

We’ve been together for around 2 years properly, we’ve been writing music together for a while, before that, but nothing ever as substantial as our previous release ‘Chapters‘ or our latest record ‘Young Hearts‘.

Where is the band based out of and what is your local music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re from Leicester in the UK, the most famous band to come out of here is probably Kasabian. The local music scene is great, it’s quite varied in genre, but there are a few gems out there such as: By The Rivers, they’re a reggae act and they bring a awesome vibe to their shows.

Is there any story or concept behind the album title Young Hearts?
The album is basically named after our previous relationships, some of them good, some of them not so good. It’s an amalgamation of when we were young, dumb and in love.

Select two songs from Young Hearts and what inspired the lyrics.
Remember is mainly about someone from your past coming back into your life and wondering if there was anything there in the first place and could that relationship be rekindled. ‘If you leave a fire to smoulder, the flames can come back stronger’

Grey is about losing someone you loved and realizing how much they meant to you after you’ve lost them.

What could one expect from a live Omaha show?
Come to a show and find out.

If Omaha could open up for any band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
We’d love to open up for acts like Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco etc. We’d love to mix it up and open for acts like Michael Bublé or Taylor Swift and we’d have loved to share the stage with some of the greats like Queen or Prince.

Any strange or scary happenings while on the road or at a show?
We saw a car crash right in front of us on the autobahn in Germany, we had to rescue the passengers out the car as it was on its side with debris all over the road. That shook us up pretty bad but everyone was okay involved with the crash and the emergency services were awesome too!

Have you ever played in the States or plan to do so in future days? If so, what was the experience like?
No, we have had a bit of interest to play the states and we would absolutely love to, everyone from the US seems pretty vocal and we love that. It’s just not financially viable at the minute, hopefully soon though because US and Canada would be amazing to tour.

The Queen of England invites Omaha to play one song at a Royal Command Performance. What song would you play for Her Majesty and guests and why?
We’d cover ‘Anarchy In The UK’ by Sex Pistols because why not!
