Knuckle Puck is currently making their way across the country on a headlining tour, featuring direct support from SoCal’s own Movements as well as the participation of With Confidence from Sydney, Australia and Homesafe from Chicago! Movements definitely has a lot to celebrate on this tour – not only were they playing a hometown show, but their debut full length album entitled Feel Something had just been released a few days prior via Fearless Records! After a rambunctious fun loving performance from With Confidence, Movements would take to the stage with a set that was a near polar opposite. With dark yet imaginative guitar interludes, a wondrously spirited rhythm section, and vocals that aim right into the heart of the matter, Movements captivated the audience with their mesmerizing set of emo rock. Fans of Taking Back Sunday and Jimmy Eat World are destined to make a lasting connection when encountering the sweeping tunes of Movements. The band recently completed a full summer on the Vans Warped Tour and were now more than prepared to take on the highways of North America once more.

“Save yourself cause I’m not worth the time, cause you were gold but I’m colorblind,” was the call to emotional arms on the dynamic Colorblind, the first single from Feel Something, making an absolutely rapturous opening to the Movements live journey. The powerful sonnets kept on arriving, featuring poignant lyrics and superbly driving melodies – stunning tunes such as Third Degree, Deadly Dull, Hatchet, and Daylily. With no formalities of a crowd barrier, there quite a bit of stage diving from both guys and girls, all clearly affected by the entreaties Movements was offering on this brilliant Sunday night in Downtown L.A. Many in attendance were clearly singing along whether flying off the stage or observing in the crowd, knowing each and every song even though Feel Something had only been out officially for a few days.

Vocalist Patrick Miranda is a tremendously effective front man, delivering the vibrantly heartfelt lyrics with a commanding amount of passion and conviction. Guitarist Ira George colored in the songs with an exhilarating amount of atmospheric intrigue, setting each and every composition in flight within the cavernous walls of the Teragram Ballroom. And then there’s bassist Austin Cressey and drummer Spencer York driving it all home with a skilled precision.

“Give me something to believe in, I’ll give you something to forget,” Miranda mused with a thrilling sense of urgency on fan favorite Kept from their Outgrown Things EP. And this would be a powerhouse conclusion to a wildly emotional set from a band who may just be headlining their very own tour in no time at all. Movements is a extraordinarily talented collective who challenge their listeners to truly Feel Something within the confines of an unsettling world – and judging by the impassioned responses from their fans at The Teragram Ballroom, the emotional wallop emitting from the stage was certainly impacting the crowd tenfold. For diehard fans of emo rock, Movements is an auditory experience not to be missed.
