Travis Barker presents MUSINK – Day 1 with Descendants, Fear at The OC Fair & Event Center

Travis Barker presents MUSINK – Day 1 with Descendants, Fear and more, The OC Fair & Event Center, Match 16, 2018

It was Day 1 of Travis Barker presents MUSINK – 11th Annual Music Festival, Tattoo Convention & Car Show.  And even though the skies threatened to rain, music fans arrived at The OC Fair & Event Center to take in a day of old school punk rock, kickass cars, and stylish tattoos.

The early attendees were greeted by local favorites Spanish Love Songs, who kicked off MUSINK 2018 with a bang!

Legendary So Cal punks The Adolescents were up next, sounding just as fierce and confrontation as ever.  Performing songs that spanned all across a grand and infamous career, The Adolescents definitely sent the room spinning in an epic way.

And then it was time for Simi Valley’s own Strung Out to assault the crowd with their own combustible brand of in your face punk rock.  Strung Out’s upcoming eight song EP is entitled Black Out The Sky – an entirely acoustic manifesto which will be available May 11th via Fat Wreck Chords.

Lee Ving of Fear at MUSINK Day 1

Fear

The politically incorrect but glorious subversive Fear took to the stage next, opening with the blasting refrains of I Love Living In The CityLee Ving and his crew instantly provoked frantic audience sing alongs as well as massively fevered slam pits.  “Get up and make my fucking breakfast you lazy bitch” from their song Honor And Obey was certainly wondrously tasteless as only Fear can get away with in this day and age.  There was even a bit of history made within the Fear ranks at MUSINK 2018, with two former members joining the band onstage for even more anthems from the past – Philo Cramer on lead guitar and Spit Stix on drums were the very special guests, bringing back the old school with an all-out vengeance.

And the Fear classic raged on, with songs such as F*ck You Let’s Rodeo, I Don’t Care About You, and Let’s Have A War leaving an indelible impression – just as wickedly effective in 2018 as when they were first unleashed upon the world at large.  The MUSINK attendees all had a beer with the one and only Fear, a band now celebration 40 big bad years of punk rock notoriety!  Here’s to another goddamn 40!!!

The Descendant headlining MUSINK 2018

Descendants

Headlining night one of MUSINK were the iconic Descendants, unleashing an exhilarating set of punk rock tunes that sent the crowd into an absolute frenzy.  Opening with the diabolic tongue in cheek refrains of Everything Sucks from their blistering 1996 album of the same name, the Descendants slammed headfirst into a set that dazzled the packed to the rafters stage area.  And the punk rock assault kept on arriving tenfold, as the Descendants raged into fan favorites such as Hope, Rotting Out, On Paper, Pervert, Clean Sheets and a whole lot more!

The core membership of the Descendants remain as quirky and compelling as ever, featuring the participation of Bill Stevenson on drums, Milo Aukerman on vocals, Karl Alvarez on bass, and Stephen Egerton on guitar.  There was no doubt that fans left Night One of MUSINK singing their favorite Descendants song with fiendish glee as the rain poured down upon the wilds of The OC Fair and Event Center.  A superbly memorable opening at MUSINK, with two rapturous days ahead, which would include appearances by Blink 182 and Good Charlotte on Saturday followed by performances from Lil Yachty and Machine Gun Kelly on Sunday…
