Redemption Volume 1 by Apocalyptic Lovers (Self-released)

Based out of Youngstown, Ohio, Apocalyptic Lovers (formerly Love And War) is a hard rocking collective in the grand tradition of Dokken and Lynch Mob. The band recently made their way out West opening for the one and only Dokken at the world famous Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip. In town supporting their recently reissued Redemption Volume 1 album, their drummer Dave Hope handed Highwire Daze a copy of the album to review. And just like their show in Hollywood, Redemption Volume 1 is jammed packed with scorching tunes that will remain in your head for ages!

Better Days is a dynamic opening song, starting off with metallic guitar riffs galore and then rocking out into the heart of the matter. Killing For A Living then cements the fact that these Midwest musicians know how to unleash a should-be rock and roll classic. Change Of Frequency is a standout cut, commencing as a power ballad before exploding into a high flying all-out anthem.

Who The Hell Are You? is the question asked in another powerhouse selection on Redemption Volume 1, and it’s raging answer will seethe in your ears for ages! Left In The Cold is an infinite scorcher while closing track Dying Day is a superbly intensive reverie that you’ll be passionately singing along with as the disc spins to its conclusion.

The stellar musicianship within Apocalyptic Lovers consists of Dave Hope on drums, Robert Kane on vocals, Sean Magee on guitar, and Mike Nagy on bass. Redemption Volume 1 was recorded at Mindrocket Studio in Pennsylvania and then mixed over 12 days in Nashville by legendary producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Metallica, Skid Row, Dokken, Motley Crue, Poison, Alice Cooper, Extreme, etc.) at his Wireworld Studio. Already hard at work with Volume 2, expect to hear a whole lot more from the Apocalyptic Lovers in the months ahead.
