Bartolic spoke exclusively to Outburn, to discuss Morning in May’s new record label, and the first new release on Manic Kat Records.

Morning In May finds himself at the forefront of reinventing mid 00’s emo. Expressive and visceral both lyrically and visually, Jake Bartolic’s sound is awash with resonating post-hardcore influence and a high-octane delivery.

2020 saw Bartolic unveil 6-track EP, ‘Somewhere In Slumber‘ a record that was preceded by the release of “Everybody’s Innocent Here, Don’t You Know That?”, shot at The Shawshank Redemption’s Ohio State Reformatory, after which the track was titled.

With touring on the back burner for the duration of 2020, Bartolic has found new mediums through which to channel the indelible energy of Morning in May. In addition to partnering with Craig Mabbitt for “Orpheus in Retrospect“, a duo of huge covers ensured the Ohio native stayed busy in a challenging year; a breathy cover of Halsey’sWithout Me” and a blistering festive rendition of Fall Out Boy’s, “Yule Shoot Your Eye Out.” blazing a path for new original music in 2021.

Having announced his signing to Manic Kat Records, Morning in May’s new single “A “You Up” Text From Death” (Spotify
