Sweet Spine at The Constellation Room – Live Review
Sweet Spine, The Constellation Room, Santa Ana, CA., September 28, 2024
Sweet Spine has been traveling across the country on The Break//Neck Tour, with a stop at The Constellation Room in Santa Ana. On the road in support of their just released Break//Neck full lengther on Cecil Park Records, Sweet Spine sold out The Constellation Room and proceeded to prove why they are one of the most compelling bands on the national music scene today. A trio of massively talented musicians who deliver with a ton of heart and conviction, Sweet Spine epic live shows are pure auditory bliss. With influences such as hard rock, grunge and shoegaze raging into the mix, Sweet Spine would unveil an absolutely intriguing, thoroughly intensive performance presented by this fascinating band.
From the captivating refrains of opening song Anathema, Sweet Spine unveiled an impassioned set of sheer artistry. One feels really welcomed at a Sweet Spine concert – there is a love and appreciation that both the band and audience experience at a special moment in time together – and this bond is part of what makes a Sweet Spine concert such a memorable experience. Selections such as In My Blood, Poison, and Dream Eater are rapturous to the ears. And hearing the all-out magnificence of their single Darkness in a live setting captures the magic and intrigue of what makes Sweet Spine such an imaginative force of nature exploding into ultra vivid life.
Fox Haynes is an absolutely exhilarating front man, singing with a ton of passion, and shredding it all into the stratosphere on guitar. Bassist Taylor Priola unleashes a thrilling low end, her bass work wondrously spellbinding. And slamming in all home with a crushing force is drummer Brannan Crook, whose thunderous beats stun the senses and set the imagination in flight.
All this, and the entire band stayed after the show to meet and greet everyone, taking photos and signing whatever arrived their way. Be sure to catch Sweet Spine at these smaller venues, because this extraordinary band is blasting their way into the big leagues in no time at all!
