Luke Reyvn and Mekari.Exe at The Virgil -Live Review

Luke Reyvn and Mekari.Exe at The Virgil, Los Angeles, CA., September 3, 2025

First of all, congrats to Danny Goo and Fair Fight Productions for presenting the very best local shows in town at some pretty cool underground venues. The Virgil has a homey, retro feel, and it was exciting to see Luke Reyvn presenting his first ever headlining show there. With The Goo Down and the other shows Danny has been booking, and Luke has been involved with, they are created a music scene encompassing pop punk, electronic, hip hop, and beyond. And on the this very special night, Luke Reyvn would unveil an epic 15-song set, showcasing both his solo work and his brand endeavor 2GONE.

Luke Reyvn

Luke presents absolutely gripping, deeply personal songs set to pop punk melodics, and what a stunning display of talent he and his many co-conspirators presented onstage deep in the heart of Los Angeles. Opening with the exhilarating one-two punch of Razors and Kiss Me Girl, the room filled up to experience an entire night of tunes Luke Reyvn had in store for us all.

Talking Like This is Luke’s latest single – a supremely emotional power ballad which the artist performed with a ton of passion and conviction. And then soon the first guest of the evening would arrive onstage – the devastatingly captivating SHVNNON SIN who would join Luke for the tempestuous Devil In Disguise. At the end of the song, SHVNNON would place a mask on the kneeling Luke’s head, and just like dark magic, the artist would merge into his alternate 2GONE persona.

Joined onstage by co-vocalist Huntuh, the mask duo of 2GONE performed a trio of post punk / darkwave selections that set the imagination in flight, including So Gone, Death Race, and Wanted U. And while the devil heads were meant to mask their identities, the power and emotion of the songs seeped through and enveloped the room.

For those who have always wanted to see Luke Reyvn and Danny Goo collaborate on a song together, this would be the night it was to finally happen within the hallowed walls of The Virgil. The song was entitled Closure – one of the many highlights of the set. Here’s hoping they release their wondrously catchy tune on Spotify soon.

After the seductive and sassy sounds of Sunday Service, Trophy Boy Poems would join Luke onstage for a rambunctious rendition of Round N Round. And then the last two songs of the set would happen where the amazingly talented Grant Kemp would join Luke onstage – the shirts would come off – and the passion and sweat would seethe tenfold with the closing numbers Falling Away and Reason To Hate Me. 15 songs went by fast, and what a treat it was to thoroughly explore Luke’s inspirational world through an absolutely unforgettable performance.

Mekari.Exe

I had been wanting to see Mekari.Exe ever since I met him outside the notorious 1720 club at the Taken By Tides / Against The Sun show a few months ago. And what a perfect addition he was for the Luke Reyvn headlining show. Opening with the super intensive refrains of Sin & Self Destruction, Mekari.Exe instantly captured the audiences. Sonically, Mekari.Exe presents a rapturous amalgamation of sounds and styles – emo, screamo, deathcore, electronica, and hip-hop genres all mesh together to create a unique soundscape that is wondrous to behold. As an artist, Mekari.Exe is absolutely fearless with expressing himself onstage.

Rage and Saint up next, a two-song combo that reeled the audience in – sounding quite fierce and impassioned within a live setting. And just when you think it all would be obscure and inaccessible madness, Mekari.Exe would unleash Casualty Of Love – a very melodic track that could be all over the radio airwaves while still exuding the rebellious intrigue the more harder edged songs exuded. New Highs New Lows was chill anthem showing yet another creative side of the Mekari.Exe auditory adventure.

In addition to the charismatic Mekari.Exe on vocals, joining the artist up onstage were Scott on guitar and Luke on drums – both culled from the infamy known as Hollywood Nightmare. The trio would conclude with an amazing cover of Shadow Moses by Bring Me The Horizon, which had quite a few in the audience singing along.

In Conclusion

You can bet this reviewer will be checking out Mekari. Exe, 2GONE, and Luke Revyn in future days. Thanks again to Danny Goo and Fair Fight Productions for putting together such an amazing show, which also including standout sets from Lil Crimes, 2Flights, Gonzxo, 11Harro11, Fl3sh4Fantasy, and a very special appearance from SlaughterMouthh just right before Luke Reyvn’s performance!
