mid june’s debut show at Room 41 in Burbank felt like the kind of night people will brag about witnessing early on. The four‑piece—Cole Sage on vocals and guitar, Nico Diaz on guitar and vocals, Edaan Friedman holding down the low end on bass, and Drew Thomsen driving everything forward on drums—took the stage with the confidence of a band already carving out its identity.

Pulling heavily from their debut EP Let You Go, the set moved through themes of heartbreak, reinvention, and the catharsis that comes from turning emotional wreckage into loud, beautifully messy guitars. What stood out most was how naturally their influences collided. Shoegaze textures washed over grunge‑leaning riffs, while modern rock hooks kept everything sharp and immediate. It’s a blend that could easily feel chaotic, but mid june made it sound intentional—almost effortless.

Cole’s vocals carried a raw edge that paired well with Nico’s melodic counterpoints, creating a dynamic push‑and‑pull that kept the crowd locked in. Edaan’s bass lines added warmth and weight, while Drew’s drumming gave every song a pulse that felt both urgent and controlled.

By the end of the night, it was clear: mid june isn’t just starting strong—they’re starting loud, and they’re starting with purpose.
