The Epic Rise of Natural Born Machine

Natural Born Machine is a new international Melodic Heavy Rock band founded in 2019 by bassist and composer Alberto Rigoni (solo, BAD As, Vivaldi Metal Project etc.) which features Pink Cream 69 singer David Readman, guitarist Alessio “Lex” Tricarico (BAD As) and drummer Denis “Denzy” Novello (Ardityon) in the line-up.  Human is the name of their debut auditory manifesto, now available worldwide via Pride & Joy Music Highwire Daze recently interviewed David Readman and Alberto Rigoni of the Natural Born Machine brigade to find out more about this supersonic collaboration.  Read on…

Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Natural Born Machine, and how long the band has been together.
David: My name is David Readman and I’m the singer of NBM. Alberto started the band last year and was looking for a singer, he contacted me and we had a quick call and NBM was born. I did a fast demo of Moon Child and the rest is history.

Where is the band based out of and what is the local metal scene like there?
David: NBM are mainly based in Italy and I’m originally from the UK, but I live in Holland. I lived for a long time in Germany, so when were able to play again we will do a small tour in Germany as the Metal scene is still very good there.

How did you wind up on Pride & Joy Music?
David: We were looking for a while for a label, but most of them offered not the support we were looking for. We were offered quite a lot of contract’s but finally we settled with Pride & Joy as we felt that they really understand the music and work hard for the band.

Is there any overall story or concept behind the album title Human? Select two songs from Human and what inspired the lyrics.
David: I feel that in the world we live in more and more, we need to be more productive and our freedom got lost somewhere hence the band name.

Moon Child is about a child living on the streets, lost from a world were their parents lost their work and future.

A New Future is about a teenager facing the choices of a new Future in todays madness.

How did David Readman from Pink Cream 69 become involved with Natural Born Machine?
David: Alberto contacted me and we had a quick call and NBM was born. I did a fast demo of Moon Child, and over the next few weeks he sent me the demos of the tracks for the album. I already liked the heavy but melodic aspect of the band. Very important for todays metal scene.

What has it been like to record and release new music in the middle of a pandemic and so much social unrest in the world?
David: Well the music business has changed a lot anyway, and now with the pandemic, it’s even more difficult, desperate times indeed. We felt it was important to stay positive and the music still goes on!

Who did the cover art for Human and how much input did you have in it?
The cover was made by a very good designed called Andreas Ballnus. Well, he did listen to the album and I left up to him the idea for the cover 🙂

Has Natural Born Machine ever played live or plan to do so in future days?
David: We planned some shows for 2021 but unfortunately it has been difficult so far… lets see. 2022 will be our year!

For Alberto Rigoni, what is currently going on with BAD As and Vivaldi Metal Project?
Alberto: Regarding BAD As, after the release of our third album “Crucified Society” we were planning to tour but then Covid happened… currently we are working on some new songs, they may be released as a single or may be part of an album. Let’s see!

Regarding VMP, I was co-producer of the first album but not of the second one, where I joined only as bassist on a track. I currently don’t know when will be the release date.

Another question for Alberto Rigoni – your upcoming solo album will feature the legendary bassist Leland Sklar from the Jackson Browne band amongst other credits. How did Leland become involved and what has it been like working with him? Feel free to present any other details from your solo album as well…
Alberto: Yes, I’m going to release my tenth solo album “For the Love of Bass” on April 2nd, 2021. As the title suggests the music is made by basses only, no other instruments. I invited as special guests my idols, such as Leland Sklar with which I was already in contact, amazing person, was great to collaborate together. But the album will feature also: Nathan East, Michael Manring, Tony Franklin, Doug Wimbish, Adam Nitti, Lars Lehmann, Cody Wright, Mohini Dey, and David Pastorius.

It will be available both in digital and Digipack. You can pre-order it at http://albertorigoni.bandcamp.com

What do you hope 2021 brings for you and Natural Born Machine?
David: As of yet were still promoting the album, and were had amazing reviews for all over the world. I think another album is on the cards!

Any final words of wisdom?
David: Stay safe people and keep the faith!!!
