Hate Myself EP by Yungboi Gothic (Self-Released)
Yungboi Gothic is a hip-hop emo artist from Redding who is destined to leave a lasting impression above and beyond the Golden State – especially if his new Hate Myself EP is indicative of greater glories ahead. Hate Myself is quite a statement, and the five songs found within slam into the heart of the matter when it comes to dealing with the trials and tribulations of mental health.
Opening the EP with God Take Me, Yungboi Gothic speaks for a whole generation with his“kill myself, kill the art,” “maybe I’m better off dead,” “the truth is I don’t wanna be me” reprieves leaving an indelible impression.
“The suicidal thoughts in my brain,” continue with the next selection entitled In My Head, where the cool beats and carefree melodies mesh with the bleak introspective lyrical content.
“I just want to run away and never come back, ditch my life forever, watch my heart turn to black,” raps Yungboi Gothic on the pensive title track, as the artist continues to deal with the art of falling apart. With Demon, Yungboi Gothic confronts the haters and it’s quite an inspiring reverie! The grand finale of Talk Your Shit with its “I’ve been dripping like a sink” sentiments presents Yungboi Gothic going to the after party with a reflection of hope in the distance.
Hate Me EP by Yungboi Gothic is as explosive as it is cathartic, and it’s sure to hit hard with music enthusiast who will be able to fully relate to confronting one’s own darkness through compelling auditory artistry. Cover photo by Vivian Ortega of So Finch Photography!
