MGK’s Lost In Americana Tour stop at the Kia Forum was more than a concert — it was a full‑blown theatrical experience that showcased his evolution as a genre‑bending artist.
Samantha Fish’s November 16th performance at The Observatory in Santa Ana was a masterclass in modern blues‑rock showmanship. From the moment she stepped onstage, Fish commanded the room with a blend of fiery guitar work, soulful vocals, and a stage presence that felt both intimate and explosive. The night opened with an instrumental cover of “Kick Out the Jams,” a necessity after a brief microphone glitch, but the technical hiccup did nothing to dull the crowd’s anticipation. Once the sound was restored, Fish launched into “Paper Doll,” immediately showcasing the smoky, controlled power of her voice and the razor‑sharp precision of her guitar playing.

One of the night’s standout moments came during her rendition of R.L. Burnside’s “Poor Black Mattie,” where she leaned fully into the swampy, hypnotic blues that has long influenced her sound. The crowd responded in kind, locked into the groove as Fish pushed the song into a raw, exhilarating crescendo.
Visually, she was magnetic—moving with confidence, connecting with the audience, and giving every song a sense of urgency and presence. By the time she closed the night with an encore reprise of “Kick Out the Jams,” the room was fully hers.
Samantha Fish didn’t just perform—she delivered a powerful, soulful, and deeply satisfying night of blues‑rock that reaffirmed her place as one of the genre’s most compelling live artists.
