Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in The Color Wild, and how long the band has been together.
Jaden: Hello! My name is Jaden and I’m the drummer for The Color Wild! We’ve been together for just over 2 years now.
Kyle: What’s up, my name’s Kyle, I’m the lead singer. We’ve been a band for over two years now with nothing but positive vibes looking ahead.
Jesse: I’m Jesse, I play Keyboards and sing for the group! I also love songwriting!
Josh: My name is Josh, and I play lead guitar!

Where is the band based out of and what is the music scene like there?
Jaden: The Color Wild is from Sacramento, CA. The music scene here is pretty incredible. It’s extremely diverse and supportive of local musicians.
Jesse: Sacramento has really adopted us as their own, and Jaden nailed it- the scene is SO diverse and welcoming to all styles. It’s a great environment to live in!

How did you wind up signing with Artery Recordings?
Jaden: We got booked onto a Metro Station show in Orangevale and our current manager, Andrew Roesch, was the show’s production coordinator at the time. He loved our sound at sound check and scheduled a meeting with us and the rest is history.
Josh: That was a pretty incredible experience- its funny how you never know what opportunities can be right around the corner.

Is there any overall story or concept behind the title Clean?
Jesse: The actual title track, Clean, is about being torn by two conflicting feelings. That song was written when I realized I was really stuck in a tough situation and there was no way to get out of it without getting a little bit hurt. Sometimes, you mess up, and there is no way to get out totally clean – but that’s okay if you accept it and learn from it.
The whole EP is about learning and growing up through different emotions, while finding the balance between the good and bad ones.

Select any two songs from Clean and what inspired the lyrics.
BRIGHTER THAN THE MOON came about during a conversation I had with Josh on the way to a photo shoot last year. We theorized that certain people transcend all expectations, sometimes you meet someone who simply shines brighter than the rest based on personality, talent, heart, etc. We noticed that we call the people we idolize “stars,” while the moon is the biggest and brightest thing in our frame of reference. Essentially, when we say “forget the stars, you’re brighter than the moon.” we’re telling someone “you shine brighter than the brightest things we know.”

SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER was inspired by someone I worked with at an Italian restaurant. She was a beautiful girl, whose personality was just really, really unkind. The song is mainly about the way some people are attractive until they show their true colors.

Who produced Clean and what was it like working with them?
Jaden: Erik Ron (Panic! at The Disco, Attila, Issues, Too Close To Touch, and more) was the producer of Clean. Our experience with him was incredible. We were the most creative we have ever been with him, and the hospitality wasn’t too shabby either.
Jesse: We also worked with a few really talented engineers/producers in Robbie Gardunio and Zach Wasmundt. They were extremely helpful in the overall creation of the EP, especially in the early tracking stages.

What could one expect from a live The Color Wild show?
Kyle: If someone were to come out to a TCW show, they would experience a show they’d never forget with live and energetic music, and a twist of a funky feel; any fans can groove to any TCW songs.
Jaden: If you were planning on checking out a TCW show, be ready to dance and have a good time. We want the audience to feel like they are a part of the show just as much as we are.
Josh: Also, face paint. Lots of face paint.

How did your tour with Sleeptalk go and what were some of the highlights?
Jaden: The tour with Sleeptalk was a dream come true. Being our first tour, we got to experience new states, new fans, and new atmospheres! A highlight for me would be celebrating a day off/birthday in Tempe, AZ with the bands and crew. Good times were had for sure!
Jesse: One of the highlights for me was trying some legit BBQ in Amarillo, Texas. I’ve never had pulled pork like that in my life!

Any strange or scary happenings on the road or at a show?
Jaden: As most people know, Roswell, NM is known for its extraterrestrial happenings. It’s all true, and that’s all I’m allowed to say.
Jesse: We performed in Roswell, NM? Weird, all I remember was a bright light, a floaty feeling, then nothing…
Josh: I may or may not have been probed by an alien lifeform.
Kyle: Also, half of the tinder profiles across the nation were fake.

If The Color Wild could open up for any band either now or from the past, who would it be and why?
Jaden: I think our biggest inspiration as a band would be Walk the Moon so they would be an ideal band to tour with and learn from on the road.
Jesse: I also think it’d be incredible to open for The 1975. Their stage show is so intense (in a good way) and their fans are super dedicated. We’d have a great time partying with them!
Josh: I’ve always been a huge fan of Muse, too!

What’s up next for The Color Wild?
Our EP “Clean” comes out August 25, we have plans to tour later in the year, and we want to reach more fans throughout not only the states but internationally!

Any final words of wisdom?
Jaden: I strive to be as creative, unique, and inspiring not only as a musician but also as a person as much as possible. I hope to give fans a reason to feel that way too. Thanks for the love!
Kyle: It’s starts like this. If you’re a musician or love music with all of your heart, then as the rabbit from Zootopia would say, anyone can be anything.
Jesse: Be good to each other, everybody! We could all use a little love right now.
Josh: Bippity Boppity, give me the Zoppity.
